RE: Important Petition

Some people at the norwegian board thinks that the petition needs better marketting, can people spread the word? EG at WP and chatrooms?

RE: Important Petition

I'm trying to spread the word, so far it's been here, and on another site's forums.

I think the Hub is the next step, and someone has requested that to happen on my blog. I'm not sure how to go about it though... Are there any Hub members in and around AFF who'd be interested in sharing this petition, out to their blogs and to others?

RE: Important Petition

Joeker, I happen to know that any mention of Best on the Hub's head blog (Left Brain/Right Brain - Kevin Leitch's blog) is discouraged. But there's no reason why you can't email him about it. Trouble is I don't have it handy right now.

There's also Neurodiversity.com (Kathy Seidel's site) and Autism Vox - off the top of my head.

Wilky, I have avoided this word up until now, but now I'm going to use it in relation to you and you alone.

STUPID.

You are kind of pushing things a bit far.  Sad

Timelord, you have my support on the matter of the petition fully, but personal attacks just make the attacker look bad,and they just create a bad atmosphere.

RE: Important Petition

Pika, it might be best if you stayed clear of the fight between me and Wilky. There's more to it than you realise. It's presently being sorted on another board here (I hope!) - so can we move away from that on this thread? Please?

RE: Important Petition

You're welcome Dr Who.

I have Christina Chew's email address but I wouldn't dream of giving this nice ladies details to you. Go to her website if you want her help.
Let me know how you get on with your Kev Leitch, although I think you might be in for a disappointment there. I would credit Kev with more sense than to think he could help you get "Hating autism" off the internet.

*ignores above message*

Just an update on the petition - it now has 57 signatures. It's going along nicely and hopefully with some more publicity it will go into three figures very soon. Thanks to everyone here who signed so far!

RE: Important Petition

I guess I may contact Kev, then. I'm not sure how he'll take it...
I hope he's in agreeance with it, but I'm not going to get my hopes up.

I'm sorry, but what do you mean by that?

RE: Important Petition

I believe he meant how Fore pursued you for personal information.

He did do that, right?

RE: Important Petition

I will support the petition to ban this blog under the google terms of service.

Those who think they are free to raise money to pursue a 'cure' for their children must rationalise it to the lawmakers, and our opposing viewpoint must be hear loud and clear - but this is NOT the reason I oppose this blog.

This blog is written by a man who has went beyond the realms of decency or respect for human life in all it's neurological diversity.  He is obsessed with hating 'autism', and hates anyone who has autism unless they revile themselves.

Such an attitude was common in the times of Martin Luther King - and we know from history that a small minority of black people tried to conform to white values and sentiments that said they were less than human in order to have an easy life.  We know of one 'Best' follower who has elected to make herself a posterchild for him.

Many parents of us - their autistic children - want us to be proud of who we are, as they are.  Many parents of autists wish us not to be discriminated against and cherish our difference - even as they feel sad that we are not as accepted in society as they are... and I believe there are many who will support us, as we say...

Respect for Neurodiversity is love and tolerance towards each other.  All of us.  Together.
