RE: What's your computer specifications?

I stopped spending big bucks on PCs a long time ago ... whatever's fashionable and fast today will be marked less than half price and in the bargain bucket within the year.  My usual concern's whether it's fast enough to run two or three apps at the same time without the blue screen of death.

RE: What's your computer specifications?

i have a dvd/cd rom(ide), 160gb ide (hda0 - boot drive), 500gb sata(sta0).
im gonna be adding a dvd burner as an upgrade/replacement to replace the stock cd burmer.
what i am using is a hand-me-down dell given to me by a friend at church. said it had a dead 250wt PSU(which it did). so i took it out and replaced it with a 450wt. the 500gb and 160gb were scavanged out of my dead powermac g4 Tongue along with 512mb of pc2700 ddr sdram(as an upgrade for the stock 512mb - 512+512=1gb Tongue)

RE: What's your computer specifications?

I built my Quad a little over a year ago. I used an AMD phenom4 processor. This is the computer I use most of the time. It has 4 GB of ram. I am using a 320GB IDE drive a my C drive . I have 4 1TB SATA`s for storage, with 3 more 1TB SATA`s as external drives. It is a triple boot with XP pro, Vista ultimate and Ubuntu. Never had a minutes trouble out of it. The only thing it lacks is a e-sata port, which would sure speed up reading from those external drives.

Remember this?

Time for an upgrade!

The motherboard tray slides out, hells yes.

I'm aware the cable management is, uh, "lacking", but this was a "get it built, fix it later" job; next cleaning cycle, I'll know what's going where, what cables can and can't reach what and I'll do the job properly.

RE: What's your computer specifications?

Here are the specs of my trusty little Compaq desktop PC:

Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit (upgraded from Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit)
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ (dual core processor clocked @ 2.5Ghz)
3 GB DDR2 RAM
EVGA Nvidia GeForce 9500 GT (upgraded from integrated graphics along with upgraded power supply, I kind of wish I got the 9800 GTX+ instead, but at least it runs Fallout 3 and Burnout Paradise pretty good)
320GB hard disk drive

Sure, my Compaq is a bit weak compared to some of the monster computers I have seen, but at least I won't need a crane to move it. Wink
