What color(s) or color combination(s) do you associate with autism?

Maybe this could inspire a new flag for autism.

I'm also a bit interested in the way the colors would be presented in an possible flag.

Personally I associate autism with dark blue combined with white stripes.

I think the new Autistim/Asperger's spectrum thingy pride thingy should be a color spectrum.  But made to look diffrent from the gay rights flag so people don't get confused. Maybe stick a little syombol in there.

umm, that's exactly how it is right now. it's the color spectrum within an infinity sign. right?

I'd tend to associate black and white with autism, but from an aesthetic point of view it would make a pretty dull logo. The rainbow and infinity sign logo works well though. Get's the point across and looks pretty.

I agree with kalahari Meekrat when he says the logo gets mixed up with the gay rights thing. Also the "puzzle piece" logo is also in assorted colors like a rainbow. So I think we should get away from the whole rainbow scene, but thats just me.

My thoughts exactly!  Use horizontal stripes, as a way to acknowledge the many parallels between the gay movement and the autistic/Asperger's movement, considering the success of the gay movement and how we can learn from it.  (Where they are now is where we can hope to be in 20 years.)  The difference would be in the colors.  Ours could be a spectrum or sorts, but in otherworldly colors  Rather than suggest example, let me just point y'all to what gave me that idea...

That's the website of a game called Treehouse (using the plastic pyramid gamepieces I had mentioned in a couple of other threads).  The pieces are available in sets of five colors, with a choice of two different color combinations.  One of them in its package looks kind of like a gay flag, and the other one has the otherworldly look that might be the basis for an autism/Asperger's flag.

As for a symbol to use in addition, stick with the infinity sign.  It's simple yet elegant, easy to draw yet the kind of symbol you might find in an advanced math book.  It even has its own Unicode definition, which lets you include it in a post as text instead of graphics, like so:  ∞

Yeah, we should go for colors that have deeper meaning; not colors that just happen to be related to a word we often use.

I don't know which color we should choose for this idea (I tend towards red, blue, or green), but it was my thought that we could still represent "spectrum" in a monochrome instead of a rainbow, with the darkest color on one side, lightening to the other side.
And we could still toss in a symbol as well.
