Aspie motto

Hey everybody,
I'm happy to see this name, Autistic Pride Day, because it seems to support my theory that we autistics are the current witchhunt victims, just as gay people were (and still are, but getting better).  Homosexuality used to be listed as a disorder in the NTs bible, the DSM, until they forced it out.  I've adapted their slogan and offer it here for your perusal:

WE'RE HERE, WE'RE WEIRD, GET USED TO IT!!!

Sexuality is as profound an aspect of our humanity as communication, and I am way tired of being pathologized for this difference.  NTs writing about autistics is as wrong as straights writing about gays, and men writing about women.  You can't write with true authority about something you have no clue about, and for darn sure can't call yourself normal and the "other" abnormal.

Like the motto, and somehow think I've seen it before. I always think I've heard it before when you listen to good music.

nah. we can't joke about being neurotypical. Our main goal is acceptance.

RE: Aspie motto

Neurotypicals will never accept us as human beings. Not even people of the left. Not that there's anything wrong with all that is socialist (except communism and left-of-centre), it's just the people. I stood up for an aspie because his NT ex-wife was bashing him in her online journal. So I fired shots about her, raising the possibility that she might abuse her kids. No lawsuit yet, thank God, though her friend did have the nerve to invade my house and threaten me with a "*** storm." I'm still waiting for it to happen. Stupid bastards.

Ironically, this lady happens to be a prominent feminist from the University of Saskatchewan and that her man-friend happens to own a progressive book store. As usual, sadly, he and she "don't have time" to research on AS, and thus think that people like me are social undesirables who are violent, dangerous, suicidal, etc. when in reality there's only a small number of us who are like that... specifically one or two people tops.

RE: Aspie motto

while it will take a long time for us to be accepted,i feel one of the best ways we can....advocate it and speed it along is to wear our diagnoses'es(sp?) with pride.
hence my suggestion for the infinity logo armbands. the more noise we can make, the sooner people will learn to accept us.it worked for the homosexuals, didnt it?

Worked for homosexuals?

Guess they don't have big anti gay rally's where you live. We have 'em here, with lots of church leaders turning out to speak at them.

And I live in a very LIBERAL state with regards to acceptance of gays.

(boggles my mind how so many "christains" are just so damn clueless)

RE: Aspie motto

How can you say I'm clueless?  I have absolutely nothing wrong with anybody having a different sexual preference.  I have several friends that are homosexuals, bisexuals, and luckily one that's asexual (as well as I ^^).

RE: Aspie motto

I've seen some funny slogans about autism on tshirts but I can't tell if it's okay to laugh.  What is funny to me might offend others.

I did like your pun with the "We're here" slogan.

Hmm... I don't recall Jesus condemning anybody (except hypocrits - by the way, he was only condemning the Jewish people who were being hypocritical; I tend to think that he would have been ok with the Jewish people that were honest about their sins, and felt remorse).
