RE: How do you respond to the question "How are you?"

I can still remember one of my brief interactions with a psychologist type person and he seemed to be trying to measure my social receptiveness by asking how I would respond to him asking how I was doing and then correcting me for being not detailed enough (or vice versa I can't recall the order he did this to me) and then at the end of the visit asking me again how I would respond to it and then correcting me for the opposite error.  I suppose he must have been asking the question differently somehow between the two occurrences because he seemed to think I should be able to guess which answer he wanted when.  I've come away from it all with the conclusion that I'll give the standard expletive response (Doesn't it seem kind of like an expletive since it has no actual meaning?) unless the person really deserves the truth.  Very few people deserve to actually know how I'm doing more than they'd pick up from looking at me.  But I guess standard answers are habit forming because my wife reminds me she often has to probe to ask me "What kind of good?" after asking me how I am.  In any case if I want to tell my manager at work I'm in a good mood I'll spam our team's group chat with a few puns and that gets the idea across quite eloquently.

I don't give a hoot about sitting down.
