Yeah I would not worry about the average person on the street. Do
a medline search and you will get over 14000 hits for ADHD. The experts
people with MD's and phd's know ADHD is real. I would guess of those
expert most will be atheist/agnostic. I would guess most the people who
say there is no ADHD are theist. They are not using logic. They are just using their own missguided thoughts.

ADHD
I was wondering if you think that i could have ADHD, or not ? I talk a lot and usually fast, without pausing, i fidgit most of the time , i feel tense and aggitated nearly all of the time, and find it very hard to relax. I am a 29 year old woman ,with Aspergers syndrome. Thank you so much.

Christians do use logic, too ! As a christian myself, with A.S. , i think ( naturally) in a logical way. My mother and brother have A.S., are both christians and they think in an extremely logical way.

Aren't Scientologists prone to deny the existence of ADD/ADHD?
The Scientologist actress Juliette Lewis was discussing psychiatric medications in an interview (can't remember the publication, but it was sometime in the last year or so) and spoke skeptically about diagnostic labels including ADD/ADHD, saying "There's money to be made," implying that these conditions have been invented by drug companies in order to exploit the public. (My take on that is: I don't mind paying for meds IF THEY WORK, which mine do. ) She seems to be in agreement with other Scientologists, most notably Tom Cruise, who dismiss psychiatry as a "pseudoscience" and oppose any use of psychiatric medication. Having been greatly helped by medication, I disagree with their assessment, but if they get good results from their vitamins, exercise and Scientology teachings, fine...*shrug* :?

Just for interest, I did these tests and the result of the first one suggested I "probably have ADHD". This was a bit of a suprise.
ADD Combined Type: Not Probable
ADD Inattentive Type: Highly Probable
Cingulate System Hyperactivity: Highly Probable
Limbic System Hyperactivity: Highly Probable
Basal Ganglia Hyperactivity: Highly Probable
Temporal Lobe System: Probable
It's easier to beg forgiveness than ask permission.

Exist
You're going to hate me then, because I think does exist but is much less common than what most people think. Most people just have a lot of energy.
A lot of parents are quick to label their kids ADHD. Well kids in the modern world are full of energy from watching TV all the time instead of playing around. Also people in the modern world are terrible at waiting and refuse to do long, hard tasks such a paperwork.

RE: I hate it when people say ADHD doesn't exist!
I think a lot of people just have trouble with the idea that someone literally can't pay attention, even if they try very hard to, because it's something that's completely intuitive and effortless for them (most people). Even if they understand ADD and ADHD on an intellectual level, deep down they don't quite believe that a person could really, truly not be able to stop her focus from wandering.
Also, I think they might actually be underdiagnosed disorders in girls and women, because we usually aren't textbook cases. More daydreamy, restless space cadets than bouncing off the walls hyper or angry and disruptive.
