Dutch Aspie groups / Nederlandse Aspie-contactgroep?

[Note: Thread is in English, but as a Dutchie you're free to drop in in Dutch, and maybe put up a translation later.]

As requested by Amy, at least three of the dutch AFF members (including two ChatAutism IRC operators) live in the same area of the Netherlands (basically we live about 2 miles or less apart). Amy requested us to put up a few ideas to encourage the start of a local support, contact and awareness group. Given my time obligations (I make 24 hour study weeks and am joining a computer association's board) I think I'll have to let this one pass. Would like to help out where I can, maybe help organise a few events.
What we're probably aiming at is a small group of people which can help create awareness for AS and the spectrum in the Netherlands. There are already a few associations that work on this matter, like AutSider and PAS Nederland, maybe we can work something out (I'm moderator on the AutSider board and have good contact with the association's board)
What can we do as events? We can do meetings maybe or do something fun together, like LAN parties, movie nights, or attend some kind of convention together.
I'd really like to hear some thoughts from everyone!

I actually don't want to up this topic, but Stoney i think it is a great idea. I do not live near you, but i go to school in Eindhoven. So that makes four i guess. Maybe it is good as you are operator of Autsider, to make a suggestion on the forum about it. A Sticky topic. I know from another forum called Adhdxtra that they have a meeting once a year. Organized by the direction. But on Autsider forum there is a lot more activity by users. So there really is a good point. And then maybe in small groups. Like the 12 destricts of the land. Hard to arrange i know, but maybe a start at your own city.

Perhaps some of us can come together in utrecht and discuss this subject and maybe come up with ideas

It would be great if more anti-cure oriented aspies would join us! we'll be exchanging ideas for other activities over table during lunch break. At the moment it looks like about 16 participants will join our group (if they all come). After the museum-visit some of us might go to Utrecht for an after-gathering, so that would also be an opportunity to discuss ideas, plans, views and get to know eachother better.

Personally I think the amount of activities PAS Nederland organises are just enough for me.

Yesterday we went with the a group of 17 people  to the Railway Museum.  Besides seeing lots of trains, we have also discussed plans to organise things for PAS Nederland. There are quite some people, living all over Holland, who are willing to set up activities for PAS Nederland.

Anyway, I wish you lots of succes!

PAS has some great initiatives. But they're not set up literally like AFF is here, and I doubt they will fx. set up something on the 18th of June (APD). Maybe we could get together on IRC someday and discuss some ideas we can do for APD 2007 in the Netherlands? As far as event organisation goes, I'm pretty much newbie, but things like audiovisual engineering, sound, light, live internet TV and radio reports, that's pretty much one of my preoccupation. Just give me anything with buttons and I figure out how it works in 15 minutes.

Krijg nou wat, Nederlanders!

Hi all, I'm Gerard, 19 years old, live around Den Haag and interested in philosophy, politics and generally the greater whole of things. I currently have some matters to sort out, but in the future I might join in with activities you guys set up. Till then, anyone interested in discussing the meaning of life?

I did something for APD this year, but a very small initiative, with 9 ppl total. PAS told me they didn't have time to organize anything this year, but they always welcome personal initiatives and they were positive about the idea of an event on APD and also offered to put it on their website. So I think it would be ok to cooperate a little, but ofcourse, we can do it seperately if we want more freedom

Cool!! I just saw your clips, they're great! I'd love to learn more about audiovisual engineering myself (after I finish university that is). As I have organized a little so far - still learning - I might be able to help with that. It depends a lot on what we're going to do. So let's first plan!

Welkom Gerard! idd steeds meer Nederlanders hier   sounds like you got similar interests like I do.. as for the meaning of life, that's a very personal thing, I think you have to find that out for yourself

As for matters to sort out... I have university to finish first, I am soooo behind schedule!
