Dumb laws really piss me off >:(
So, in the UK if you are sixteen you cannot get a sex change, good. You can however be given medication over a long period of time to change your gender if you suffer from gender dsyphobia.

OK. So when you are sixteen you cannot vote, so you cannot have a say in politics and how your country is run...But you can change your fuc*ing gender!
By sixteen, you are still going through some elements of puberty, a time where you can get confused.
An example:
I thought I was heterosexual, then bisexual, then heterosexual again, then bisexual again...Before finally resting with asexual.
Our world is full of dumb laws:
Take America for example:
At sixteen you can join the army and get yourself killed, but you cannot drink until 21 and you can't vote until 18.
Back in the UK:
Abortion is illegal in Northern Ireland but legal for the rest of the UK.
It's the 21st fuc*ing century and we still have laws like this!

The enlistment age over here is 18, same as voting. That's why the voting age was dropped to 18 from 21, I think during the Vietnam War.

Perhaps it's just a certain state or something that is sixteen.
Oh, I've made a mistake. You can buy a gun at sixteen, not join the army. Am I correct?

I think that depends on the state. In most states, I think the age is 18.

in Thailand it is common for pre-pubescent boys to go to a doctor and ask to be castrated if they want to switch gender. When I lived in Thailand I read that the going rate was 500 baht - about 10 quid. These young men then find the transition to female to be easier later - although they often end up shockingly tall because of a lack of hormones to tell their bones to stop growing.

Assuming that "arrest" doesn't imply that you'll be found guilty, it would make some sense, since the person doing the arrest doesn't necessarily know that it's your own home.
It might also have some implications on domestic abuse (possible trigger warning? this forum doesn't seem to have spoiler tags to hide such content): If, e.g., someone with an abusive spouse successfully kicks the abuser out of the house but hasn't yet officially gotten a divorce, the victim wouldn't want the abuser to be able to legally break back in; although, on the other hand, it might make it possible to abuse someone by locking them out of the house.
Not sure if I'm an Aspie, but I seem to at least be similar in some ways. Aspie score: 111 out of 200.

A police officer can arrest you if he has reasonable suspicion of you committing an offence - can't quote the precise paragraph in law that says that but it's quite well accepted.
So if someone saw you breaking in and called the police, it's not unreasonable that they could turn up, arrest you and then release you upon you proving your innocence.

The reason why the gender change stuff happens early is because, if you identify as a girl and you go through puberty as a boy, you're pretty much screwed if you want to grow up looking like a woman (unless you don't change very much during that time).
So you can take drugs to delay puberty, and then once you're certain (which requires a ton of therapy and letters from your doc), you can begin taking hormones of the preferred gender.
And....its not called gender dysphobia. It's called Gender Identity Disorder...although the PC term is transgender because GID implies it is a disorder and many don't feel its a disorder.
