An explanation of mind-blindness for NTs

This is a great video to share with NTs who may be confused by mind-blindess and social paranoia.  It gives some helpful tips for aspies, too.

RE: An explanation of mind-blindness for NTs

The video is intended for people with Asperger's or HFA.  It rather puts the responsibility on the aspie to prevent that cyclic conflict situation.

So I am supposed to ask the intention of another person and assume that they are going to be truthful and not trying to bully me?  That strategy is not going to work all the time.

I rather do not react much to people in their comments.  I rather wait to react and observe how that person interacts with others.  I figure that if he/she is constantly criticizing or bullying others then most likely they will do the same to me in the future.  It takes time however and usually the first impressions of me are formed by others which seem cool etc.

I watched the video too, and also felt it placed a little too much responsibility on the Aspie.

It seems the creator of this video, veteran behaviorist and child/family therapist Dr. Mark Hutten, has a less-than-stellar reputation. He frames autism and Asperger's Syndrome purely as conduct disorders and bases his treatment plans around that idea, whereas there's a lot more to these complex conditions than just that one part. Also, he cannot take criticism, which is ironic since he's all about teaching children and adults with disabilities to handle unpleasant situations in a mature manner.
