George and the missing puzzle piece

I'm watching an episode of "Arthur" with my son. It is called "George and the Missing Puzzle Piece". It is about a kid with Asperger's Syndrome. Surprisingly positive so far. I think you can find it on YouTube if you are interested.

Cool, it is on YouTube. I will get my wife to watch it when she gets home.

I've seen this.  It is a little stereotypical, but I like how positive it is about kids with AS Smile

So my wife flew home yesterday, and I showed her the episode.

Not much interest to be honest. She said "I knew [our son] was different from when he was a toddler. I don't need to see other kids like him. I want to know what happens to other kids like him when they grow up.".

So now I guess I will try to show her some famous aspies.

The irony with Bill Gates' case is that the word aspergers is not in the windows dictionary. When I try to correct the word it comes up "Gasper".

I never liked Arthur but I'll probably watch this episode.

Are you using Firefox?  I think it has its own dictionary (Firefox on Mac suggests "Gasper" as well).  (Though Apple's dictionary and Vim's dictionary also don't have it.  /usr/share/dict/words on my computer has it, though.)

Not sure if I'm an Aspie, but I seem to at least be similar in some ways.  Aspie score: 111 out of 200.

For the record, Pokemon's creator is named Satoshi Tajiri. In fact, the character of Ash is named "Satoshi" in the original Japanese version in honor of Mr. Tajiri.

Well yes, but when using Microsoft word it was not in the dictionary at first. Had to add it.

RE: George and the missing puzzle piece

I've seen this Arthur episode before, and I have to say it definitely accomplished the difficult task of explaining the ins and outs of autism while still remaining kid-friendly.
