Get in the halloween spirit!
What are you doing to celebrate this year?
My plan involves a trip to the cinema, some gaming and a nice meal after taking my son out trick or treating.

You're planning on flying on a broom?

If you don't mind me asking, why do you not celebrate it? I know some don't for religious reasons (some christians believe it to be a holiday that encourages children into occult practices for example), but i'm guessing that's not why.

My son got his Dracula cape plus witch's(!) hat just today.
I, on the other hand, will celebrate the day by having put the snow tires on the car.

I will be making our usual dinner: spaghetti (brains), meatballs (eyes), and garlic bread (to ward of vampires, naturally!).
At around 6:00 I will go trick-or-treating with The Incredible Hulk, Jake the Human Boy, and Link. Note to self: bring the wagon this year. I had to carry a fireman halfway across our neighborhood last year.
Then I will painstakingly examine every piece of candy for possible contamination despite the fact that I know that poisoning kids' candy never happens and is largely an urban legend.
I will put the kids to bed when they finally come down off of their sugar high.
DH and I will conclude our series of scary movies by watching something or other and drinking some hard cider. I will probably doze off shortly thereafter due to my pitifully low tolerance to alcohol.
...lemon curry?...

Just two words: Halloween is best holiday
Chris Christie is so fat, I was giving a presentation and he ate my pie charts.

All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.

RE: Get in the halloween spirit!
Halloween seems to be taking off in Australia, I saw a lot of people dressed up for parties on the weekend and my son was supposed to go to a party on Saturday. I've never celebrated it nor even had a kid knock at my door looking for candy.

RE: Get in the halloween spirit!
How strange, children going about threatening people to give them lollies or they will egg your house, or whatever. Some boys tried that once last year with me, they had cans of spray paint and told me I had to give them lollies or they'd graffiti my wall. They were kids from my street, so I knew where they lived, and I told them if they tried it I'd kick their asses. And then tell their parents. They didn't come back.
However, a little girl dressed as a fairy came by with her mother. I did give her some marshmallows, since she didn't try threats but asked nicely. The magic word makes a big difference to me.

RE: Get in the halloween spirit!
I should add, I'd never even heard of Halloween when I was growing up. It wasn't until I eventually came to Canberra when I was 18 that I began to see things about it on TV shows (usually) from the U.S. The same with the U.S. custom of Thanksgiving and 4th of July holiday. Here in Canberra, we used to get a holiday on the Melbourne Cup Day. It used to be known as that, then it got changed to Family Day. That was always fun, in our house we eat strawberries and cream and have a (small) bet on the Race That Stops A Nation. Good fun. No official holiday anymore, though.
You guys that do celebrate Halloween overseas, do you actually get an official holiday for it, as in a day off work? It falls this year on the Wednesday, which in Australia is just another day.
