James Williams is my hero.
On my online travels, I discovered a young man who has written a few books and delivered many speeches on the subject of autism. His name is James Williams, and many of his essays and speech transcripts can be found on his website.
Never before has the all-too-common situation of misunderstood, mischaracterized, mistreated children with autism been explained with such detail and clarity as on Mr. Williams' website. I suggest we all read these articles.

He makes me feel inadequate. A professional speaker at 24? I hadn't even been diagnosed then.
As the player's breath warms the fipple the tone clears.
It is time to consider how Domenico Scarlatti
condensed so much music into so few bars
with never a crabbed turn or congested cadence,
never a boast or a see-here; and stars and lakes
echo him and the copse drums out his measure,
snow peaks are lifted up in moonlight and twilight
and the sun rises on an acknowledged land.

Well, I'm sure his family and/or therapist(s) played a big part in taking the initiative to get him and his words out there. Luck and connections can be very important, you know.

Great articles, thank you. He has quite a knack for describing the autistic perspective.
In "Understanding: The Free Therapy" he does an excellent job of explaining why traditional behavioral modification approaches are flawed.
