If the world was suppose to end on a specific date and time...

Does that mean that those who are a day behind Brittan are going to die after them and those who are a day ahead of them are already dead ?

Think about that one, if the world was suppose to end on the 21st of December does that mean that those who are a day ahead of everyone else are already dead and those who aren't a day ahead are next ?  ...... :/

Hey there's no such thing as a dumb question right ? only dumb answers Smile

I believe in "ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer."   It's gotten me some weird looks sometimes.

The overwhelming majority of the threats to the earth are artificial in nature, and all of them are processes already underway.  They will not be completed at such a soon date, and can be stopped so that they never do.  Short of some religious jack-*** with a nukuler bomb I would say there is good reason to believe nothing special will happen just because we've reached the winter solstice in this particular year.

Sooner or later one of these end-of-the-world predictions is going to come true, THEN who's gonna be laughing?

I would assume that if it really is the end of the world, the entire world ends—all at the same time.  Any credible report of an end of the world that specifies such an exact time should not only include the date and time, but also the time zone.  I.e., it wouldn't just say the world ends at noon, but rather that it ends at noon GMT, or noon EST, or whatever.  (And, for this specific example, if the Mayans had actually accurately predicted the end of the world, it would probably be in the time zone the Mayans lived in.)

And if the world doesn't end all at once, it seems unlikely that any natural disaster would start at the International Date Line, work its way west only, and do so at a speed such that it reaches where it started in exactly a day.  It seems more likely that it would start at some random point and spread outward in all directions from there.  Except, perhaps, if the sun was the direct cause... but I can't think of a likely situation where that would happen.

Most of the predictions I've heard about don't seem to be based on something similar to my understanding of reality, so for them, I have no idea.

Not sure if I'm an Aspie, but I seem to at least be similar in some ways.  Aspie score: 111 out of 200.

Living in Britain, I thought the world ended when we were knocked out of the last Word Cup.

By 'we', I mean England, obviously. It's a foregone conclusion that Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland won't win.

The boy who cried wolf scenario. I've pondered about this for a while...In short when a person ((not crazy, or trying to make money)) suggests and has scientific proof that the world will end, they will not be listened too. They will have "heard it all before" "will not be tricked again" ect. As a result, billions if not millions will die. All due to madmen and rich bastards.
