Should Nicki Minaj even be an American Idol Judge?
This whole fiasco with these two recording artists is insane considering the new season of American Idol has JUST started. I don't watch the show but my problem is WHY Nicki Minaj is even a judge on the show? She's only been on the seen for what? Four years at most? I mean she doesn't even have THAT many hit songs! Mariah I can understand since she is one of the most successful female recording artist of all time behind Barbara Streisand and Madonna and has sold hundreds of millions records. Nicki doesn't even come close to being an expert on what it takes to make it as a recording artist. I mean if the producers of American Idol are going to have someone who just got a lucky break and not pure talent to be a judge, they might as well use Rebecca Black as well. I mean Mariah has worked with some of music's biggest names including the late Whitney Houston and Boys To Men. The only big name artist to have performed with Nicki is Alicia Keys. What do you guys think?

RE: Should Nicki Minaj even be an American Idol Judge?
True but four of the biggest artists of the past decade got thier start on American Idol. I'm talking about Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Chris Daughtry, and Jennifer Hudson of course. Carrie is obviously the most successful and Kelly is secon only because she was the FIRST American Idol winner. All the other contestants on the show tend to fade away after winning or aren't as popular now as when they were on the air during their respected season. Adam Lambert and Jordin Sparks are rising and could eventually make it as a major recording arting that is highly successful but only time will tell.

RE: Should Nicki Minaj even be an American Idol Judge?
I never watched American Idol, but wasn't there a time when the show was about giving young, hungry, and talented performers their big break, as opposed to putting the crazy, old, washed-up judges in the spotlight?
Also, there's something else I never understood about American Idol. One of Chris Daughtry's main influences was the '90s alternative rock band Live, which also happens to be one of my favorite bands. When Live's lead singer, Ed Kowalczyk, left the band after a bitter argument, why didn't Daughtry jump at the chance to audition for the band? Why did he decide to croon modern empty-headed over-produced pop instead? I bet performing with Live would be a dream come true for Daughtry, and I bet they'd welcome him with open arms, and I bet he'd become as successful as Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson in the process. But it wasn't meant to be.

I think American Idol has been corrupted since day one ... :/
That is true too.
As for Nicki Minaj, might as well put Lil' Kim in her place shoot... She is somewhat of a copy of her anyways. Think about it, if it wasn't for Lil' Kim... Nicki Minaj wouldn't have the style she has. So is she qualified to be a judge? Haha is my answer to that one. See, I didn't even use a real logical thought for that one. I feel for Mariah Carey though.
I hope Nicki Minaj improves in the future and I hope no one takes her political advice seriously in the urban community (the urban voting community that is).

RE: Should Nicki Minaj even be an American Idol Judge?
I thought this was going to say "Should Nicki Minaj even be an American". To which I was going to respond that I'm not sure she should even be considered a human anymore, especially given that she's made it clear in her music videos that she's a automaton construct made by David Guetta...
