Does Double D have Asperger Syndrome?

I'm just a bit curious, but do any of you think Double D, from Ed, Edd n Eddy, has Asperger Syndrome? He shows numerous traits, including organization, obsessions, and the sorts.

RE: Does Double D have Asperger Syndrome?

I've wondered the same thing before .... I do remember him always labeling things obsessively and being a worry wart as well as extremely intelligent but I also suspect that Hank Hill is an Aspies.

Ever notice how everyone in the neighborhood of Arlen seems to accept Hank's strange behavior  because he doesn't have the Asperger's label ?  ... :/

Yeah, Edd has always been obsessive about organization and, as well, intelligent. Some other people also label Edd with Hypochondriasis. Hank Hill? Hmm...I never wondered about him having Asperger Syndrome, but it's possible.

I also suspect Daria, from the TV show Daria, which is a spin-off of Beavis and Butthead, has mild Asperger Syndrome. I also believe Ed from Ed, Edd n Eddy has Autism.

These kind of questions are ones we can only speculate and guess at, until someone reveals something of course, but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy these kind of mysteries Big Grin

Indeed, it's always fun to throw around guesses like these, even if they aren't canon until the creator of a show announces it. Smile

Hank Hill? I thought he was a normie and Dale Gribble was one of us? Hm... interesting... I can understand Bobby might be leaning towards Asperger's, but then again he does understand social norms... Joesph Gribble isn't really one of us, it's just the environment he grew up in.

As for Double D, he is just nerdy and has the tendencies but that I am not really sure. So I won't say anymore about Ed, Edd and Eddy.

Yes I do know that, Skyblue. I know they're fictional and hence they can't get a diagnosis. I'm just having fun.

RE: Does Double D have Asperger Syndrome?

Many characters are inadvertently portrayed as the aspie stereotype. Many people are aware of the stereotype without knowing that AS even exists.

Indeed I do, it's just fun to play the guessing game once in a while.

Very correct, many shows, usually cartoons, have at least one character that has either Asperger Syndrome traits, or could in fact "have" it (although it's rare to find a character in which the creator labeled as Autistic).

That's actually something that bothers me; many people truly are aware of the Aspie stereotype, but do not even know what Asperger Syndrome is. Another thing that bugs me is the fact that many people who are not very well educated about Asperger Syndrome tend to think that aspies are "retarded". Probably because it's relative is Autism, and because of the eccentric behaviors Aspies show. There's another person at my school who has Asperger's and when I told someone else he was in advanced classes they didn't believe me; they thought he was dumb, because of his weird behavior!

I find him to be a neurotypical as well, but marioluvsfries makes a good point, Hank usually shows reckless behavior, but that doesn't really mean he is Autistic, unless he behaves this way because he isn't very aware of social norms. As for Dale, I'm not sure, he speaks too fast for me to understand him. Big Grin I think Bobby is the one who shows the most traits, and he could very well be Autistic, since I don't think he really understands most social norms.

Actually, if anything, Edd probably does have Asperger's. He's more than just nerdy. He's obsessive, organized, and he goes into mild fits when upset. Have you ever noticed how easily he can get provoked and how he usually goes berserk when provoked too much? And, just like the two other eds, he doesn't seem to socialize well with the other kids.

Dale Gribble is the guy that exterminates bugs. Bomhoward (or however you spell his name) is the guy that talks fast and says, "Dang ol' dang ol' this."

Sorry, I am like an extreme King of The Hill fan. ^_^; I also am a extreme Dale Gribble fan. Maybe I should change my name to Rusty Shackleford. lol

Oh, silly me, I can't believe I got them mixed up, after all I watch King of The Hill almost every night. Big Grin In that case, looking over it, I agree, I think Dale has Asperger Syndrome, probably a more severe case, but without repetitive behaviors like hand-flapping, although he has two strong obsessions which would be bugs and extermination of bug/rodents/other pests. It seems he is, in fact, the one to appear Autistic the most compared to others, with Bobby second. Wink

That's fine, since I probably would've as well if I were a girl. I tend to get crushes on cartoon characters who are girls and I can relate to, for example, right now I have a crush on Daria. Big Grin So, if I were a girl, it'd probably be the same, but with dudes.

Oh, and by any chance do you happen to be a member on a website called Sodahead? I know I've seen you around on a different website, I just know it.
