Do you think drumming with your fingers is being musical or annoying ?

Drumming along with my fingers to my favorite songs has always been a form of stimming for me.

This has taught me about rhythm and timing and to me this is being musical. But people had told me in the past that it's annoying and a nuisance and I can't see why this would be...

So what I was wondering is does anyone else think it's being musical or do you guys think it's just plain annoying?

Also does anyone else stim like I do ?

My Dad thinks I have Bi-Polar disorder and that I stim like I do with my fingers when I'm in my manic mode and I think he's right cause that's when I drum with my fingers for hours at a time.

Just curious about this...... :/

Its musical if you yourself are doing it, but annoying if someone else is.

No more than anyone else. We all have habits that get on everyone else's nerves. It's just that, for whatever reason, it's only okay for other people to tell you that what you're doing is annoying (I experience this too).

I had this problem since I was eight or nine years old, it would drive teachers nuts... Of course this also attracted a lot provocations for bullies.

They would start drumming their fingers too whenever they saw me and make faces while they do this at me... Good times... Sad

DH is a drummer, so he's always doing this. Even when it is musical, it can become annoying!

It can be annoying to some people. I pace back and forth and imagine being in my fantasy world(s), and I've been told that's annoying...

I`m a bassist and I do it all the time also

LOL, and when I am not working, I pace around my area , and do daydream a lot

Its the reason I wont put a security camera in my shop area. No one needs to see that.
