RE: Man denied heart transplant because of his autsum
Yeah that is BS to the max! Why didn't the article say why he got denied ? I'm sorry that doctor was a complete a**hole, denying this person a heart transplant, just because of his Autism!
I'm worried, what if doctors start denying us medical cause we're a waste of life to them and they'd prefer to treat someone who has a better chance at living?
Oh here's a video I watched linked from that article, Video: Autism Detection in Infants?, about pediatricians thinking Baby head lagging could be a sign of early developmental problems...

That is absolutely ridiculous, they can be sued. They are assholes. I have volunteered and done research with pediatrtic transplant patients for years- the majority of whom have a psychiatric diagnosis or a neurological diagnosis (epilepsy is very common) --- and many of who experience PTSD from the ordeal. AND they are children--very likely to rip tubes out, yet they still receive transplants. That is ridiculous.
And the nerve of autism speaks to comment on it.
That is unprofessional, they can and should be sued, there is plenty of evidence AGAINST their "concerns".

Autsqueaks needs an audit by the SPLC.

Just added this doctor onto my list of "people I'd like to shoot in the groin"
The reason he gave was not a reason at all, it was an excuse. And how dare AutismNOTSpeaks get involved in this matter even in the slightest. Since when did they give a flying fuc* anyway?

Originally it was "people I'd like to kill" or "people I'd send Jeff after" but then the list pilled up...
Also, I'd like to point out that cancer now runs in my family, my Grandfather died of it and my dad pumped me with enough second-hand smoke during my childhood to last a lifetime ((30-40 a day, all of them inside the house))
If doctors in the UK refuse to treat me if I get it god forbid. I will sue them or protest. Most likely both.
Either way, there will be hell to pay and they will regret the day they rejected me from treatment.

To be fair, the comment from autism speaks is for once a positive one here - we shouldn't blindly attack every single thing they say just because it's them saying it or we look like idiots.

Finally, something we can all agree on!
He has hidden abilities like we all do, so his life is worth as much as the others. This is prejudice in its highest form. He's just different so they assume he is less.
I keep promising myself that I will never get angry again, but am now realizing that sometimes it's out of one's control... grrrr...

Yeah, it kind of messed me up when I almost agreed with someone from Autism Speaks. I was still offended by the implication that how worthy a person is to have their life saved is measured by how close to normal they are.

actions speak louder than words- if autism speaks is going to do something for the young man, rather than just bark at the press, then it would seem more of a legit concern coming from them.
But I suppose if change is going to occur, it has to start somewhere, and more comments like those can undo a lot of stigma...
