Different characters in alternate universes
((EDIT CAN SOMEONE DELETE THE OTHER THREAD. I don't know how that happened))
This is an interesting technique that I use for developing characters and overall character building. As well as overall writing
In short, I put characters I have created and not only mix them with other characters from different things but actually put them into that universe. I've only started writing these recently but I have had similar ideas for much longer.
Of course my characters existing in say the Mass Effect universe would impact that story, for example Leek joining Shepherd for the "suicide mission" to the Collector base is something I have begun working on. The reaction of the characters to certain events in other stories I find strongly develops the character.
What I also like to do, as another technique is imagine myself in alternate universes. For example the Marvel, Star Wars and Mass Effect universes. How an alternate me would impact and react to different events. This idea came to me as a technique after watching this...

Does anyone else do this?
