Is Stephen Sondheim one of us?

Is the greatest ever composer and lyricist of popular musical theatre on 'the spectrum'? I'm not actually expecting a definitve answer, just your views. I've been reading his books 'Finishing the Hat' and 'Look I Made a Hat,  from which I've formed my basis for opening the discussion:

1) He's is an absolute perfectionist, who spends ages crafting lyrics, re-writing, scrapping songs and replacingthem, and is more often than not dissatisfied with the end result.
2) He is obsessive about his writing practices, eg using particular pencils and paper
3) As a teenager, he spent a huge amount of his time with Oscar Hammerstein II, who is more than 30 years older than him.
4) He had not been in a significant romantic relationship before the age of 40
5) His current partner is more than 40 years younger than him
6) Much of his comedy is based on wry 'outsider' observations of human realtionships
7) He loves word-play, puns, and clever rhyme
8) His work and his record collection are meticulously catalogued (the books in question consist mainly of complete lyrics for shows, by which  I mean hundreds of discarded songs which he has obviously kept for no purpose that would be apparent at the time)
9) He describes an incident where he was devising a game, and suddenly became aware that half a day had gone past without him thinking of anything else
10) He has developed an incredible facility for lyric writing despite claiming to ifnd it 'a chore' rather than a pleasure
11) He analyses his own and other people's lyrics with an extreme degree of technical rigour.

Does this sound like an Aspie to you?

Definitely makes sense! Maybe a mixture of Asperger's and OCD.

That's funny cause I have Asperger's and I can get a whole room lol'ing....

Maybe the person, who said that about Einstein not having Autism cause he had a good sense of humor, is the one who doesn't have a good sense of humor.... ?
