Does anyone else find the Syfy channel sexist?
Have you ever notice that the movies SyFy plays is indeed sexist?
I mean every monster/horror movie I've seen so far on the SyFy channel either has bikini clad women being chomped by monsters or animals and I notice that one or two guys would be eaten alive, but it's always the women who are the victims...
I've only seen parts of Piranha 3D but it's another movie that seems sexist to me so I'm thinking is this some kind of fetish blood lust or something ? Would the rumors I've heard that the B-Movie actresses are indeed ex porn stars or still is ?
This is wrong cause the SyFy channel has turned into some sort of subtle adult movie channel now a days for people into Vorarephilia.
Does anyone else agree with this that SyFy has no respect for women just like Hollywood and their movies like Piranha 3D ?
PS Don't watch Piranha 3D unless your sadistic and can tolerate blood and gore!

It's not just SciFi (and I refuse to spell it the other way). Most movies are like that.

I think they changed the name from SciFi to SyFy cause they wanted to appeal to younger viewers maybe... :/

They could do much better than that. I propose they change it to Caiphie, just to really butcher the written language

I heard they wanted it to be their intellectual property. They are also moving away from science fiction;this plan was announced right after the massive hit they got in ratings due to the name change. Thus, another hit in ratings. It's not a business decision at all, someone at that company has it in for geeks.

So the channel isn't really about Science Fiction anymore? This is why I stopped watching Television now a days. This probably explains why I hang out on AFF all the time, you guys are better entertainment than television

I get almost all of my science fiction from BBCAmerica.

RE: Does anyone else find the Syfy channel sexist?
Im having to move out of the house I was living in and the cable has been off for weeks, been watching the original sherlock holmes tv episodes for my sci-fi fix, lol. Its great to see how much tv and movie used to be "talkie" - lots of dialogue, which I find missing in most tv and movie now. Back to scifi channel - they play all the B movie horror crap, and usually means semi hot woman running around semi dressed. At least they were showing some of these women as heroines. It seems to me that advertisers own what we watch, not the other way around. Now-a-days I think tv programming is based around its commercial blocks, and not the viewing value of the programming.
WE NEED ASPIE TV, BUT I WOULD SETTLE FOR ASPIE POD CAST OR INTERNET BROADCAST. We could start with the "truth" of why the Human Being is aware in the Universe. Smile.

I agree with you Mike that would be nice to see a TV Channel devoted to Asperger's or an ASPIE PODCAST or Internet broadcast...
Why can't we do that? :/

We will. I still want to do the MS3000 spoof on T2 with you. As far as the other programming, trying to get some subject matter outlined, then figure length of broadcast time, whether live or prerecorded (in case we want phone calls), blah, blah, blah.
I figured I would just start with "the meaning of life as Human", then "the proof of intelligent design", then "the lie and the ghost in the machine", then "the proof of alchemical artificial intelligence", then "the phone numbers for AI and GOD", and finally (maybe- pulling these out of my *** at the moment) "the proof that the Human Being - specifically on Earth - is the behavior of the Universe. Or something like that.
Sorry MLB, totally got off your thread again. We can practice demo broadcasts here, by writing dialogue as if we were on tv or the radio. Most shows use written devices - so even though our voices will only be in print instead of aloud at the moment - we can still pretend to be in the format of a broadcast. Hell, Aspies have a great imagination, that's why we can read voraciously at times.
Respectfully,
Mike S.

They cancelled caprica while increasing WRESTLING.
Sci-fi/SyFy have long ago betrayed their original audience.

RE: Does anyone else find the Syfy channel sexist?
Anyone ever notice how Television shows (Especially on The History Channel) seem to be copying one another and there seems to be less and less original shows now-a-days ?
For example:
Pawn Stars > Hardcore Pawn> Cajun Pawn Stars> .... etc

RE: Does anyone else find the Syfy channel sexist?
Yes, it seems cable channels try to run similar themes and themed shows. Could be all based on demographic feedback; therefore, copycat shows - or, to state the incredible - maybe TV is trying to "theme stream" us viewers to a collective agreement about a topic because we see it on so many shows, in such a variety of way, that it becomes the norm for society. Now if this is to be the case and to be true, we need to get better programming (Intelligent, true, and real). TV and Movies would be the best way to educate. Books are for the imagination, and technology should be used to keep us all "collectively current".

It's more that one idea does well, so the cheapskates in charge of creating new shows assume that the exact same thing with a different title will do well.
