On his MSNBC program this morning, Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough made the stunning declaration that people like Aurora mass shooter James Holmes are “somewhere, I believe, on the autism scale,” and that while he didn’t know if this was true of Holmes specifically, “it happens more often than not.”
In an email to Mediaite, labor journalist Mike Elk, who recently “came out” as autistic himself, denounced Scarborough’s comments, and demanded a retraction from the network.

When will NBC and thier corporate masters at General Electric and Neurotic Central (aka Autism Speaks) give it a **** rest with painting every madman in the country as autistic. I liked how, from reading the report, Scarborough pulls this speculation that the shooter may have autism right out of his ***. Wonder what else he can magically pull out of his white fat ***? That every criminal who ever committed a crime may be Autistic ? That everything that goes wrong in this country is Autism's fault?
Was this idea that Scarborough had, by any chance, inspired by the stupid accusations that the V-Tech shooter was Autistic? What evidence was there that Cho did have Autism? None!
So why did Scarborough even bring it up? To re-bump the V-Tech shooter could had Autism BS again?

I think SG was equating autism with colour, to show how unacceptable it would be if the journalist made that connection without actually checking if the shooter was black.

Yeah I'm not being literal- drawing a parallel between saying "shoot out" = autism spectrum, and the way people say "shoot out" = black.
I'm using the ridiculousness of the racist statement to emphasize the ridiculousness of the neurotypist statement.
