By the way I love the beauty of the Pacific Ocean and now this garbage *** is my problem! I'll be damn if I see the Ocean go to hell cause too many people are too lazy and stupid to recycle their waste!

Garbage as others have stated but you do know the Pacific is in a cooling cycle and the Atlantic is in a warming cycle. Happens every 30 years or and is why Super-Storm Sandy rocked the heck out of us on the Eastern Seaboard.

Maybe I'm being overly pedantic, but that's actually a freshwater turtle.
Mapping anomalies are not a new phenomenon. An island the size of Manhattan in the Pacific was recently "undiscovered", after existing on nautical charts since the 19th Century: http://abcnews.go.com/International/sand...d=17791097

Sorry for the multiple posts, but it's got me interested! It looks as if the damn thing is calving, here's another image of what we've been blithely doing to the oceans:
I should amend my signature to say: "...and continents of floating garbage in the oceans."
you -could- build a semi stable floating island out of garbage, kind of like this guys home...

id have to bow to others more experienced in rating the seaworthiness of such a construct... but given the floating debris in the ocean... building materials would be fairly cheap.

Depending on the materials, it might not be worth the harm to seagoing creatures.
I wonder if there are people working to clean that stuff up. The real answer is always to stop adding to it, but it still shouldn't just be left there.

The area above our atmosphere is just as polluted as our oceans

It might hit it on the head as it falls out of the sky though.

More likely, it'll disable a space craft and kill some astronauts. We need to get out of near earth orbit (most of that stuff will eventually fall out and burn up, but our space stations continue adding to it). Then there was that one time that China decided to crash two satellites into one another. wftsrsly. The problem had actually been improving before that.
