Is this an anomaly in the Pacific Ocean or a glitch?
What I was wondering is would this be a glitch in the marble globe program or is this a truly weird anomaly in the South Pacific Ocean ?
For a larger view
Now why is this an anomaly you ask? If you look closely at the little island off the coast of Baja California you'll notice that the Island doesn't have any support for it. It's just floating in the Ocean with only two possible plates holding it up in place north and south of the Island.
Or could it just be some glitching with the program I use to view the World? The reason I think it might be some sort of bug is because of the two high plates holding it in place and the program didn't fully render the map.
If you had ever viewed the Earth from a satellite’s point of view, then you'd know that the Earth's Oceanic floor plates are visible from a satellite at that altitude.
Also I could be missing something here and would appreciate it if someone would kindly point this out for me.
So if anyone could help me solve this mystery or would like to debate what the possibilities are your welcome to share what you think it could be....
Thank you

Probably a stupid question, but if its google Earth, have you tried 'zooming in' for a better view?

Its just a mountain, looks like its sitting in a trench or canyon
I'm not anti-social; I'm just not user friendly

But how could it be just floating in the ocean like that without any means of plate support. Please do forgive me as I'm no scientist :/

I tried checking out that area in google earth myself, i couldnt find anything strange or amiss. I could only find one island in that vicinity and there no missing sea bed constituencies.

Guadaloupe is in the Caribbean.....
Different spelling, similar pronunciation.
One is an archipelago in the Caribbean, the other is an island off the west coast of Mexico that is freaking MLB out.

It's probably another floating garbage dump.
If it's not just a tip, maybe we could colonize it for the long-awaited Aspie Island?

I was joking in my last comment re the garbage dump, but then got interested and googled it. The image below shows that I may not have been so far off the mark after all:

RE: Is this an anomaly in the Pacific Ocean or a glitch?
Sorry for the multiple posts, but it's got me interested! It looks as if the damn thing is calving, here's another image of what we've been blithely doing to the oceans:

I should amend my signature to say: "...and continents of floating garbage in the oceans."

@Alison:
I may not be one of one those activists who complains about polluting the Earth and cares for mother nature, but even I find this a real bad thing....
Also I agree that polluted the ocean so much that we now have floating continents of garbage. Al Gore must be so angry right now....
