At least 12 people have been killed and 38 injured in a shooting at a cinema showing the new Batman film near the US city of Denver, Colorado.

Witnesses said a man wearing a gas mask opened fire after tossing a tear gas canister at a midnight showing of The Dark Knight Rises.

A 24-year-old man was arrested in a car park nearby in possession of a rifle, handgun and knife.

One other gun was recovered from the theatre, which is in Aurora.

Police have revised down the death toll from 14. They said about 50 people had been shot, including the deceased.

FBI sources named the gunman as Aurora resident James Holmes. They said no terrorism link had been established.

I would rather they let people shoot with their video cameras in the theatre.  

Actually I am shocked.  The worst part was that some people it was part of the show at first and did not understand that it was real.

But there was a man arrested in a city near where my sister lives who had 29 guns and 80 bombs in his house.  There was a shooting in my city at a neighbourhood BBQ, two died and 23 wounded.  

I am tired of this.  There is a crisis going on in the world.

I am so glad we dont have the same gun laws as the U.S.
That said, we have had and no doubt will have again, lunatics shooting innocent people and it's a scary world. I worry about my children growing up.
