Hello There, Guest! (Login — Register)
The world is so bad today... it's hard for everyone to get a job, and I really need one in order to save money for things that I really want and what I want is pretty expensive. I would use some of it also to help around the house; like for food and stuff if it was needed.
The problem is... I'm one of the ones that is having a hard time getting a job. Is there any tips or advice on how I can get a job? I don't care where it is or what it is (as long as I know how to do whatever it is of course) as long as it's a job. There could be a few problems with this though:
1. I'm not the best looking (and I prefer not to dress like a girl or a professional girl just to get a job... I'm not like that)
2. I've never had a job before in my life so that could be an issue
I'm 17 and I believe it's best now to start working, even though I'm still in high school for 2 more years.
I'm female-to-male and I really want to start going to therapy and starting T soon and I believe that's pretty expensive (same with top surgery) and I know my mom won't do it for me (like the signing up and stuff although she would have to drive me there because I don't even have my permit due to my mom being overprotective about it and not being able to afford it either) or maybe my insurance won't pay for it. I don't even know. I just want to make sure that I can pay it out of my own pocket to be safe about all of it.
Anyways... I have applied for certain places a couple times and I got nothing. I don't know what to do...
But yeah, any ideas?
If you have any questions, just ask.
maybe you could work for a local farmers market or a whole foods market, or some other basic grocery job? You could bag groceries, or you could be a delivery person if you know how to drive.
You can still dress nice even if its guy clothes, and for the types of jobs you will likely get you probably wont need to dress up formally, and so there will no be as much stigma attached to the clothing you wear. So don't worry about the gender of your clothing as long as you look nice (please note, I am NOT any kind of fashion expert...what i have generally thought of as "acceptable" I often got teased about...I would suggest looking in a magazine to see what casual clothes guys wear nowadays).
I tend to wear shirts like the one in the link^ and roll up the sleeves so I look nice and casual at the same time (the correct model on the link is number 2 btw), and apparently its also cool and sexy lol. (I was given this tip by a very pretty lady.)
The most important thing an employer notices (well not the most important, but I think its important) is your confidence. Appear confident by sitting up straight, shaking hands firmly (but not too hard), and smiling a lot.<---at least thats how I do it. to be honest I havent applied for many jobs though.
Just try to be neat and tidy. Wear clothing that is appropriate for the job such as work clothes for farm or factory job and plain shirt and dress pants for other job interviews. You could start dressing as a male now if you want.
It is really high unemployment right now. Just try and do not blame yourself too much.
Could you find a support group for pretransgendered?

I don't think there's any support groups around me. Where I live, they're really not acceptive of people. There probably could be, but I haven't looked around due to the fact that I don't get out much.
As for how you dress, you should probably dress one step up from the job you're applying for. You want to impress the employer, but you don't want to look like you're above the job.
everyone deserves a job regardless of age or disability.
Maybe when you get older you can move to a city that is more LGBT friendly. Some people live for a few years as the other sex before they start on sex change therapies.
please come to the company i'm working at. i want an aspie majority work environment. but if you can't make it may i recommend looking for placement agencies/ temp agencies. get a general labor like me. for minimal wage ofcourse. sometimes the placement agencies don't need interviews, you just go.
