working as a flight attendant

I'm quite excited about interviewing for a flight attendant position. The job seems fun, rewarding, and something I can handle. I've spent all week researching this position.

On the reverse, I've also read the reality of the job too. While it isn't as glamorous as stereotypes have it, I recognize some potential troubles I might have:
I might work in an environment that fosters an inferiority complex. It brings me to think about how I will handle co workers who are snobbish towards me. Jet lag is something ill have to get used to. It is a job, but I'm also not sure if it will be intellectually challeging as I like.

Another thing I'm worried about is flexibility. I do plan to do this whilst studying. I'm sure ill be on reserve, which might interfere with assignments and classes.

I also researched that the pay is potentially good. I've got guaranteed hours plus ill make much more if I work my off days. I like getting to travel as well.

I'm interested in any thoughts, experiences, and input you can offer about taking such a job.

Hm.... Hopefully you have the right personality for that kind of job. I know online persona's are much different than real life persona's.

With that said, I hope you get the job that you wanted. The flight attendant job is a lot of work and you might have to deal with rough customers. :S

Personally I wouldn't be a flight attendant, it is just too demanding. I rather go into the education field before I become one of those. Yeah... teaching high school students.

From what you've posted on here, I really don't think that your temperament is suited to that kind of work, or work environment.

For one, you won;t know until you try -

I do think it is not a bad idea to try a bunch of differnt jobs so that you apprefciate the ypres of jobs and situations so many have to deal with.
I know you like to travel (the idea) but as you said you researched and well the only thing you will see is  hotel room (that you have to share with someone else)

unless you get a great job with just a small/short run...

go thru the process of getting the job - like you want it - good practice...

Give it a go, and good luck!  People who knew me were surprised when I left a steady job in the clerical field and decided to study and eventually teach preschool children.  Now they all act surprised that I liked that, but left it (mainly due to my knee injury) and couldn't believe that I'd to to uni at this late stage and study Bachelor of Languages.

Keep doing little side steps and surprising them, is my advice!

Thanks guys!

The interview is this coming Tuesday. The open house consists of introductions, presentations, and on site interviews.
I'm know I can perform the duties. Absolutely certain of it. Honestly, the job is easy sounding.
I just hope I can handle the work environment. I don't want to work with a bunch of people who are treated better than I, get better things, or get recognized more than me. I don't need a work environment that will tear down the self esteem I already
built.

At the same time, I want this to be a rewarding experience that I find enriching.
