I wish I had a picture of the one that tried to fight me!  It was hilarious.  We let them go back in the water, and it was all angry and waving its claws at me.

And the deliciousness! At least that's what they tell me, I don't eat them.

I have had crabcakes before. They were ok. Reminded me of salmon patties

OMG! I love crab patties and crab anything  

You have to get real crab cakes, what you get at most places is mostly filler.  

I have to learn to make crab cakes.  I've been eating a vegetarian diet for about a month or two now, but I may have to make an exception for that!  I know they're killed humanely, and their lifespan's only 3 years, right?

We're going to put the pot out early tomorrow and check it late in the afternoon.  I keep thinking of the guys on Deadliest catch.

I bet your kids loved catching crabs. My kids love fishing, especially when we catch stuff.

wherever humans are part of the food chain, their predators dont think humane

so I aint going to worry bout that crabs feelings

The preparation of crabs and lobsters is in my opinion, unnecessarilly cruel. It really puts me off crustaceans.

I don't like the way they are still alive when you buy them at the fishmongers. I remember when I was in the philippines there was a food stand serving seafood, they had a batch of crabs. They were still waving their pincers around and were gurgling bubbles from their mouths. I found it really upsetting.

Yeah, I understand, but its actually much more cruel the way cows and chickens are killed.  They bleed to death while being hung upside down after long, terrifying truck rides, often in open air.  This is done after a short, unnatural life spent wallowing in their own feces, growing so quickly that they can't stand and support their own weight, so they just sort of flop about.  Because of such unsanitary living conditions, they're fed antibiotics, otherwise they'd be too diseased for consumption.  The crabs are killed almost instantly, and they've lived a normal, natural life.

We are actually here without children, so we thought we'd practice crabbing before we take them.  Its been ages since we've been away without kids.  I miss them, but its good to get away for a while I know they're having a blast with grandparents.
