RE: Futurology
I prefer to use "the physics" Orbital Space Math when reading the "predicting future" and using "the historical analysis" for when "making choice" in Linear Time at Choice Points.
With now a means of leaving this world, we take strength in the bonds we have forged with our friends. My name is Mike Silva, and I send this message. Though we did not choose to leave the Earth, it would seem that we are not to stay. If you approach this solar system with hostile intent, know this: We will defend ourselves. We will defend all species. We will defend... our galactic traversing home."

RE: Futurology
Does Amory Lovins count as a futurist? Having just finished The Age of Spiritual Machines by Ray Kurzweil, I have to say I was disappointed at the complete lack of any mention of environmental sustainability issues.
As the player's breath warms the fipple the tone clears.
It is time to consider how Domenico Scarlatti
condensed so much music into so few bars
with never a crabbed turn or congested cadence,
never a boast or a see-here; and stars and lakes
echo him and the copse drums out his measure,
snow peaks are lifted up in moonlight and twilight
and the sun rises on an acknowledged land.
Basil Bunting, Briggflatts
