Will anyone take LEGO donation?
Hello All, (pics in this post)
I suppose this is an advertisement, but also an idea. One thing I have always wanted to do as a child (but my family never had the money for), was to build LEGO sets. I currently want to buy and build the LEGO Space Shuttle Expedition; with 1,230 pieces this set is recommended for ages 14+.
As some of you know, one of my special interests is service/altruism, and I feel odd paying so much money for my own personal gain. Therefore, after I buy and build this model, I would like to donate the set to another person who would be interested in it. I got the idea from the Buddhist Mandalas, which are intricate sand paintings that once created, are wiped away- to symbolize (among many things) the impermanence of the world, and detachment from the fruits of our work.
It would be nice once I am finished building the set, to donate LEGOs to someone on the autism spectrum. Does anyone know anyone who would be interested in the LEGO set second hand? I do not intend on loosing any pieces.
If I buy it this summer, I can donate it by January (and start a new model). Please let me know if 1) You think this concept of building, then donating is a good idea, and 2) If you would be interested (you do not have to give me details as I have not even bought the set yet, but showing a general interest would be encouraging).

I was just thinking about this recently, as a child I always wanted to have my own lego city. If i ever get wealthy I am going to build one!
This kit above does look like a very desirable one to have. It looks a lot more authentic than the other lego space shuttle

If you find a place to donate them - I'd donate some too... let me know. thanks.
Oh by the way COOL -
/(I love the shuttle - my desk top wallpaper is currently the photo of the last shuttle to go into space... the night before with the reflection in the rain - I think I first saw the photo in an old thread here a while ago.)

LOL -
Legos Oh no you didn’t! Technically, the official plural form for more than one element of LEGO is “LEGO® brand building bricks”. That’s ridiculous, though, so most LEGO fans refer to one or more bricks as “LEGO”, following the grammatical convention of “fish” and “sheep.”

He won't get sufficiently precise tolerance off a 3D printer for Lego. Needs injection molding.
I can take a piece of Lego that belonged to my grandfather and a piece I just bought and they'll lock together perfectly, that's how good the tolerances are.
Sorry, thought it was something completely different; Yeah, the inter-system parts are an awesome idea, though I don't have anything but Lego myself.

you could probably donate it to non profits like churches that have child care services or to a special needs school or in that case any business or organization that caters to kids and families oh and on a side note why let your lego building stop there at the space shuttle why not reach for the impossible and try building a lego train or lego 747 heck why not a lego house

YEAH, I saw this one in the store! But I was looking for more of a challenge, so I went for the shuttle for ages 14+.
I'm hoping eventually LEGO (which I never knew was like sheep/deer in the plural) will come out with a SpaceX shuttle.

RE: Will anyone take LEGOs donation?
SO HERES THE PLAN: Since I got so many nice responses I will buy the set, and when the time comes I will create a poll (which I have to learn how to do...can anyone tell me?), and decide via the poll what to do with the set (i.e. whether to donate it to a charity/church, donate to someone more specific (like Thomas81 or someone you know), etc). In the meantime, if suggestions are added I will take them into account or possible add them to the future poll.
