This goes out to any employer looking for someone like me.

I know I shouldn't, but I'll probably post all of my information on here, as in my resume. The formatting turns out to be somewhat off.

Here is an edited copy of my resume:

I have experience in research, and research databases.  I've also had leadership experiences. I have life experience, and research experience with Autism. I have basic computer skills such as social networking, spss, microsoft programs. Class valedictorian.

Details removed at poster's request. - d

tailor your resume to suit specific types of jobs you are applying for.

For example if you are applying for work as an admin assistant then put those skills up first and leave out most that do not apply to the job.  You can put in a few ones about team work.

The formatting is bad.  There should be distinct headings for each position.

You might put in an objective statement tailored to the job being applied for such as "obtaining a rewarding position in insurance sales in your national office ......"

You should go to the job placement office and have someone help you with a few applications to different types of companies.  I usually use the same letters/resume for each type of job and just change them as necessary.

Actually the mistake I made in the past was applying to all the places that I really wanted to work for first - maybe apply to places that you don't really want just to practice first for a week or two.  When you get good at it then apply to some place you really want to work at.

RE: This goes out to any employer looking for someone like me.

The formatting is the result of this html on AFF. Its usually venly lined, and headed.

Also, I worked on this with the career services on campus. My name and heading looks the way it does because I took out my phone, address, and fullname.

I really only generalised it for the purposes of this forum. However, I have resumes stored for jobs I applied to that are more specific to the job itself.

I do like the idea of practice. I'm applying to most jobs, eventhough they aren't necessarily what I want, just to get valuable skills.

Writing CV's (resume's in the US) is often less an excercise in honesty and more one on salesmanship and arse kissing.

They are less interested in where you've been and what you know and more on who you know and whose back you're going to scratch to get ahead.

As for me I've had enough of the whole job market. I hate the whole nepotism, office politics and backstabbing. I've been someone else's dogsbody for the last time.

You really shouldn't put this on here...

I think you should ask for deletion.

If I take a snippet of the exact words you use and google it I will be brought to this site then I could read averything you wrote-- TMI for an employer...

employers are not coming on here looking for workers... BUT employers do the same type of stuff as professors and take words and wording and do a serach (for plagarism purposes) also employers now do seacrhes on the net and on facebook etc.,

RE: This goes out to any employer looking for someone like me.

You need some computer skills real bad.

Too late for you but I have an M.A. in sociology and was never able to use it. Everyone seems to want to solve problems but they don't need so many, hardly a few. In my experience you would be relegated to human service jobs, IF you have the people skills. I never had a job offer in human services or sociological research.

Maryland gave me computer skills when the market was desperate for it, 1999. Now I have almost 13 years exp in I.T. mostly Web design.

The leadership is in your favor, but lose the talk about autism it screams I AM AN ASPIE

you could do with an internship. Even if it is not paid you could prove yourself in a career setting, which is worth more than a piece of paper.

After thirteen years in the professional world....

Try getting into health care, might require some training, but a better growth industry than sociology. The only thing I accomplished with sociology was understanding human behavior and interaction.

I heard that h.r. serves the prejudicial whims of management not the truth. They put a spin on politics really.

Maybe I will have the admin edit this. Make it more vague.

I am being too open because I'm desperate to get some attention from employers. I'm desperate to make up for lost time. I'm desperate to live the life I deserve and I'm not gonna allow anyone to talk me out of whaat I worked hard for.

Don't.  employers are not looking here but if a search leads them here....  - No one wants to hire anyone with what is considered a disability.  It is not going to get you what you want.  Be angry at something or someone else and not people here trying to help you.

You KNOW darn well that posting frustration (anger) and desperation and phone numbers will NOT get you waht you want.  Quite the opposite.

Suggest you keep employment and AFF seperate...

oh and did you check those links- and are you checking sites tlike those for job opportunites and what about the advice given regarding practicing applying for a job that is NOT your dream job so that one day when you find one that you actually REALLY want you can get it.

Have you read any of the threas on advice on interviewin (how you HAVE to pretned that the job youa re applying for is one you REALLY want, anything in between and you WILL NOT be hired - no matter how qualified and lucky they might be to have you.

Shrek- Ladi and you have different skills and want different things in general - while you needed (wanted/liked) computer skills to the level that you have - the way you posted makes it sound like you think ONLY people will your type of computer skills can get hired (and that is far from the truth)...

Ladi- again I hope your desperation is only obvious on here - like vetning - as in person - it would be not helpful to get the job you want.  Practice chilling out and seeming relaxed and again like (was it M said) practice interviewing etc.,

(I interviewed at over a hundred places - retail mall - just for practice)
