RE: drugs

I think that people with addiction problems should have a support forum on internet online 24/7.

RE: drugs

I've tried to discuss drugs and addiction with the guys I've met with to either purchase drugs or sit and smoke. They seem very reluctant to discuss such things, but it's something I Need to do.  I'm constantly (well, not every day) thinking about drugs and its effect on me. It is smuggled here by ? in large quantities and portioned out to be sold. It's mostly addicts that sell on commission and carvs off some for themselves. Who is at the top? Who benefits from my addiction?

Estimations by police says there are at any given time 25 tons of pot in Sweden. They've been identifying the gangs that do the smuggling and found over 100 such gangs. The bigger shipments seem to be courtsey of the Motorcycle Crime Organizations.

That bothers me Big Time. It's really an incentive to say No! Because it's so much bigger than just the itsy bitsy transaction that take place between "the one who have and the one who want"; those two people are at the base of a pyramide, doing the work that holds up the pyramide and sustains its existence.

RE: drugs

I'l own up to having a huge drug problem in the past, I ended up being "brought back"

Now I use now and then, for fun, going home now actually to do some dope and smoke some weed Smile

I dont see the reason for not disclosing it. I should like to point out that when I first started using recreational drugs, I had to go pretty far out of my way just to obtain them. Some friends of mine decided they didnt wanna share their supply with me because I wasnt street smart. So 10 years ago I was going to raves in order to get access to drugs. But 7 years ago when I switched schools, there were plenty of people with connections so I had no trouble getting ahold of dope.

Personal boundaries? What drugs he used is really no one's business, and neither are his reasons not to discuss it.

Ironically, I started doing drugs as a teen to "fit in."  Once people knew that you were a head, any strange behaviors were attributed to being high on something. About 10 years later I stopped doing drugs because I didn't like where the 30-something druggies were in their personal lives.  I just sort of looked at them and said, "Nah, that's not where I want to be in 10 years." And I left. Very simple.

I didn't even entirely fit in as a head, although some of the people treated me okay.  But the only reason I became a head to begin with was I'd gotten curious because people already were always telling me I was high on something.  If I hadn't been told that, I don't think drugs would have even become interesting.  I also decided to stop and then stopped though, after losing that interest.

RE: drugs

I didn't take drugs when young, in the same way that most of you mean grass  etc, but in the past had access to some prescription drugs, I tried the occasional ones (  like many Doctors & nurses that I have discussed this with ), didn't really like how they made me feel, so I didn't do it again.

http://www.rational.org

I've mentioned this site before - the site looks a bit spammy and I wouldn't advise buying their products (they sell books and DVDs) but the material on the site is very very good.

I'd also ask everyone to please not promote illegal drug use of any kind here - just need to reiterate that Smile

I was 11 years old the first time an adult accused me of being "on something."  I didn't have a clue what he was talking about, but his anger and persistence made me feel very frightened.  As for my drug use, let's just say people thought I was high a lot more often than I was actually high. RE: drugs

You know I'm a huge fan of the Beach Boys and I read books about their history.  Honestly after reading that stuff you will probably never touch drugs.  Basically drugs and alcohol abuse ruined Dennis Wilson's life and ultimately killed him.  Carl Wilson died of throat cancer, probably due to smoking.  Brian Wilson's voiced box was ruined and he was obscenely obese for years.  He also probably wasted his best years and best work because of drugs.

I have tried weed before, but I'd never take it again.  I don't drink or smoke either.  I like to try and be as healthy as possible (although I do eat the occassional burger, and some junk food).  But it's really awful what drug addiction can do to you.

It's really bad what it does, and what's worse, the medical community (GPs and the like) have absolutely NO sympathy for you whatsoever, who knows how many times a former addict suffering from health problems has to see a GP and can't broach the topic because doctors think addiction is "your own decision."  Once an addict, it no longer is your decision--but GPs don't think that way.

RE: drugs

They need to realise that none of us are perfect but even people who smoke ordinary cigarettes, drink a bit "much" alcohol or are overweight are often made feel guilty for "overindulging". Sure, these things could cause illness, but they don't cause all sicknesses.

It's easier to beg forgiveness than ask permission.

Over here ( generally) an addict who seeks help will have a great deal of support, but if you are a smoker of ordinary cigarettes....forget it.

A heavy drinker can have a new liver, but a smoker can't have a simple op.

When necrotizing fasciitis was a problem here recently, the SS were out on the streets ( or so we were told) looking for junkies in case they had it & needed treatment.

Previously I have always had adverse comments made by doctors for smoking, but since having depression....not a word.
