job search advice, leads, networking etc....
Jobs interested in:
Academic jobs
Autism research positions
Teaching positions, teaching assistant, teaching at private schools etc...
If this helps: I just completed a major research project on the soocial construction of autism, and what it means for the quality of life lived by the autistic population. I have education background, psychology background as well.
If anyone runs across job leads, or knows of a good dearch engine, networking tips and opportunities please be so kind as to post to this thread!
In all wellness and richness,
Samantha Alyson
P.s. to add to that, I'm also very passionate about Autism advocacy. If you hear of any speaking opportunities, or careers related please feel free to post.

RE: job search advice, leads, networking etc....
Suggestion:
You would do better "networking" using people you know as contacts / references for jobs openings and opportunites if you "put up" a resume.
I do not know that here is the spot for it - as you would need to target a region - the region near where you would like work. (Like I live in NJ, and the tri-state area is where many I know look for work - NJ, Ny and Connecticut) Maybe you only want to look in colleges?
I can say I have a psychology background but I did not get a degree in psychology... so that line about background is not specific enough for me to come up what you are aiming for.
Remind us what your degree is in? Did you mention a club you were involved with? Make sure you think about having references (from college) regarding your experience in extar curricular/volunteering stuff that counts as experience often... I would see if anything you did on campus has a sister-group on another campus for example... maybe one more extensive that needs "helps" this is a networking opportunity.
It sounds like you need to look at colleges that have departments (I would google) that interest you and get an internship or paid internship... while working on research... (that is what Iwould do anyway)

RE: job search advice, leads, networking etc....
I do have a degree in Sociology. And yes, I could look into 'sister' clubs within other universities. Each of my activities are accompanied with somneone who gives me good references.
I am actually open to any area, whereever I can make a living.
I've attended a job fair recently, and was informed of some TSS positions, which I might partake in. If not, then I can check into some volunteer positions, or administrative positions within specific departments.
I'll keep asking the connections i have made with the Elementary school I worked with, and volunteer organizations I have worked it.
Meanwhile, I have a friend who is a substitute teacher, who has passed my resume on to his supervisor (seemingly interested in my experience with Autism). This is another option for me too.
My mind is going 100 miles an hour thinking of all of this .......
In any case,
Thanks Windy

M, I'm using an alias, so that I can't be identified. But thanks for your looking out though
Anyway, my aunt works in the fashion industry and knows of people who might be interested in me modeling for their photoshoots.
Also, I got an email showcasing a modeling opportunity for a clothing company I like to buy from.
Anything that pays my pockets....

RE: job search advice, leads, networking etc....
This is so much more important than it used to be. Networking to get jobs. I don't really like it. My current job, for example, was obtained through networking. I turned down a different job on lower pay that I would have been much better at, which I was offered at around the same time, which I got through applying for an advertised position.

I know I shouldn't, but I'll probably post all of my information on here, as in my resume. The formatting turns out to be somewhat off.
Here is an edited copy of my resume:
I have experience in research, and research databases. I've also had leadership experiences. I have life experience, and research experience with Autism. I have basic computer skills such as social networking, spss, microsoft programs. Class valedictorian.
Details removed at poster's request. - d
