See that is the thing. Well the thing entirely. Personally I dislike delicacy and, to be honest, I am about as subtle as a sledgehammer. The flipside is that i am not easily offended, upset or whatever. I like things understood. I can not see the point of calling "A", "B" for teh sake of social convention or for the sake of feelings or political correctness or anything else and i do not expect the same. Life is not like that.
I do expect honesty and i do expect that all calling it right and true and letting the pieces fall where they may is a kind of safety.
Ok it may sound a little strange and maybe a bit direct or even blunt and brutal, but bear with me.
* The secret that evenone is in on but you are excluded from because it pertains to you and "good manners" prevent its airing.
* Sly digs
* Accusatory glances
* Lies
* Misunderstandings
So the list goes. I say expose it. Bring it out and make it concrete, palpable, solvable and resolvable. Call it right and honest and true.
What is the worse that can happen?
You could get it wrong and you could hear something that you did not want to hear. You could get embarassed. You may upset someone. You may have to apologise.
I can live with this. I can handle the fallout. I can live with having to make an apology and a bit of embarassment. I can live with people disagreeing with me or thinking badly of me.
Compared to al the above list and all the examples of similar subtle differences I say it is almost always better.
So....now you see my mindset. There is nothing subtle about me. I am opinionated and arrogant and many more things but the people that know me, know that I do not seek to promote myself in ways that are dishonest or unfair.
I would LOVE for people on here to have the "freedom" to not have to delicately dance around things or allow misunderstanding to arise for fear of using the wrong words and feeling trapped by their inability to say what they mean. To defend the things they hold dear. To close themselves off from the ability to call it as it is or maybe as it should be. Bring it all to the table and reveal what they really think and why. Argue, debate, agree, reclarify, take a stand, and feel an empowerment of self.
If people on here collectively can do this I believe that there will be unity in a way that maybe Nasa is suggesting even. Strong willed and strong-minded members, bringing together a collective and honest dialogue that is more than pandering to the woes (and let's face it they are there to be had by all of us and this is life moreso for peopel on the spectrum) that assail us. It is not an empowerment to say "poor you". It is not empowering to say "hang in there we love you". Nice maybe but hardly empowering. It is not empowering to wantonly agree or ignore when you strongly disagree. Opening up discourse and challenging your beliefs and others. Calling people out for being wrong or offensive or indulgent. That is empowering. That is learning and steeling your nerves and wits and expanding your experiences.

a hang on, we love you - has so much more appeal than the *** i see from you. We are all vulnerable to hurt and injustice - and from my perspective aspies receive more than their fair share.
Take your " calling out" bullshit to some other forum - such as Intensity. Leave it out here. You are just a bully with too much idle time. We don't need your bullshit.

Yes those terrible, terrible people at Intensity instead of both banning Bruce for twice posting gifs which looked like an underage teenb girl getting raped, and setting the police onto him. We flamed and shamed him first, before banning him.

Wanted this thread to be forefront again. We talk about what we would like, and sometimes start threads with promise. I want us to communicate issues of relevance (only a poster can determine what is relevant to them - so anything is relevant in my opinion). I then would like to see discourse about said issues. Argument, agreement, and anything in-between to follow. Then, resolution through understanding, not necessarily agreement, so as to enrich the point of view of all.
Bloke, I agree with your straight forwardness. I disagree with others who would assault you (knowing you don't care, as do I), I find their reasonings to be childish, and not very intelligent. I am not critisizing, just illuminating the point that ANYONE MAY DISAGREE AND COMMUNICATE THEIR VIEWPOINT, THERE IS NO NEED TO DISPARAGE ANOTHER BECAUSE YOUR VIEW IS CONTRARY - JUST POST YOUR CONTRARY VIEW. To add insult to injury, any others with opposing view points, other than just misunderstanding, can not for some reason support their view.
You expresss your view is for you and you alone, so how can it be wrong? It is your point of view. The fact that others "feel" differently is more than acceptable - THE FACT THAT THEY CANNOT SUPPORT THEIR POINT OF VIEW WITH DATA IS UNACCEPTABLE.
I WOULD PREFER IF THOSE WITH DIARREA OF THE MOUTH WOULD USE OTHER WEBSITES TO OPINE. IF YOU ARE UNINTELLIGABLE OR UNABLE TO SUPPORT YOUR HATE SPEECH, I DO NOT THINK YOU SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE. HAVING A CONTRARY POINT OF VIEW THAT IS SUBSTANTIATED WITH EXPERIENCE AND/OR "FACTS" SHOULD NOT BE CONSIDERED WRONG AND BERATEABLE.

I have no qualms nurturing confused, troubled and unsure individuals who seek enlightenment and balance - hell it's been my lifes work. I have disturbing problems with those who are mean and hurtful of others because they have issues needing to be resolved within themselves - IT IS IN MY NATURE TO SEEK YOU OUT AND SMASH YOU.
I AM SADDENED THAT IN SUCH A SHORT TIME AT THIS SITE I CAN SEE MYSELF UPSET AND WANTING TO "QUALITY ASSURE" SOME INDIVIDUALS ON THIS SITE WHO ARE MEAN AND HURTFUL. AND BECAUSE THEY ARE IGNORANT AND SMALL. Thanks Mike. I am not in the slightest worried about people who disagree. I like to think that opposing views can be very contructive. I am highly opinionated but balancing this is a need to learn. I have no problem admitting I am wrong when i see i am.
As for people trying to ruffle my feathers, that is nothing upsetting to me.
This all gets back to what i would personally hope for this site. Strong opinioonated people, prepared to defend a position and yet to learn from others and able to easily take adversity in life. Who would not want that from their fellow Aspies and Auties?
