RE: Confused by what I hope is a lie.
i often think there's something wrong with me. i hated school, my second year of college was sort of ok, and i've hated uni and wil be glad to see the back of it. all these things are things i'm supposed to enjoy which i just havent. but then... i don't enjoy very many things at all. i rarely get excited about anything. i suppose there's also the small matter of me finding it very difficult to connect with another human being and being cripplingly shy around those i don't connect with but still... enjoyment just isn't what i do.
There's nothing wrong with you, no.
There's something wrong with the world...

RE: Confused by what I hope is a lie.
This does not help me. Oh god, I'm so worried. I'm slipping in all of my classes. The "people" part is better, but not great. Who decided to create this hell?
The societal system we live with is built by Neurotypicals for Neurotypicals. And even they are having trouble with it, but like so many things, unless it reaches critical levels for them, they refuse to do anything to change it, instead talking endlessly about what should be changed. While they have the majority, unfortunately we just have to do the best we can to cope. It's interesting that they think we have a problem. Most of the time, the problem we have is them and the inefficient, illogical way they run things.

This confuses me. Are people in denial on what the real high school situation is. Are people stupid or oblivious to the truth. What will it take to stop them from being this way.
It really depends on the school and the class. Many public schools can be hard and cruel. I was fortunate enough to have moved around alot, so i often went to an international school. These are full of students from different cultures each with different personalities, everyone was almost always friendly.
I think it depends alot on how isolated the class feels, if they are very open to the community they will be more likely to pick on the odd ones out, if not they tend to hold together tighter. Of course there are many different factors and such. I imagine american/english school children are more likely to bully you than in a place like netherlands or belgium (im not from there either).

Some find HS easy because you get to pick your own classes and you have different teachers. For me it was hard because of the school work and social interaction. I was always off on my own and I mainstreamed special ed and had work modifications. In fact I hear school was easier back in the days when my parents were kids because education was different. Work was more concrete then and then it changed because they want to make sure kids are actually learning so it's no longer by rote. If you were to read a textbook and then answer questions in the book about what you've read, instead of being able to find the answer directly, you have to know it abstractly and my mind doesn't work that way. So I may have been okay back in the days and may be able to do the school work with no extra help.
But I lived in a small town so I was not bullied and I was left alone. But kids didn't seem so nice to me because they wouldn't let me socialize and they get rude with me. Occasionally tricks be played on me but I never took it personal. It's not like it happened all the time. Occasionally kids would sometimes try and take advantage of me but I was too smart for that.

People are not looking at the content of what they are saying, nor are they focusing on the content of your school life. It boils down to this: People see that the grass is greener on the other side of the fence. So they wish they could go back to being a kid. Not because they liked being a kid, but because to them, anywhere is better than where they are. When they say, it gets worse, don't believe them. They are simply indicating that they are failures at life who hate their job, and probably hated their childhood, too.

They say things like "high school days are the best of your life." or "It's a lot harder out there" or "you get it easy"
This confuses me. Are people in denial on what the real high school situation is. Are people stupid or oblivious to the truth. What will it take to stop them from being this way.
Yes, I'm confused about this too. How can anyone honestly believe that the high school years represent the very pinnacle of one's life? The number of times I have heard people seriously say, 'I wish I were 16 again' are too many to number, and every time I had to force myself from blurting out, 'Are you completely insane?!'
'It's a lot harder out there' - I've heard that one too, mainly from teachers trying to 'encourage' students to try harder. It's a lie, of course, because now (in my mid-40's) things have never been easier and more stress-free.
People ARE in denial, they ARE stupid, and yes, oblivious to the truth as well. I've noticed they also tend to suffer from nostalgia, selectively remembering the good things that happened to them but not the bad.

RE: Confused by what I hope is a lie.
highschool is when i found out about aspergers. i looked at the wikipedia autism spectrum thing and learnt more from there.
Anyhow. I was having a rough time in highschool. a bit different than you. im sure i was bullied a bit but i avoided the bullying groups, hung out with the tobacco smokers (its a tough habit to kick these days) and drug users, cannabis and synthetics. I eventually was hanging out with people who would tease others. maybe me being the teasers friend and being nice to the victim helped the victims to not be treated so harsh.
So. I was having issues i suppose being in that environment, so i moved away, didnt finish that semester. I tried another school for about half a semester. I made friends kinda. I didnt feel as though I belonged.
Since being away from highschool my quality of life has improved. I did have fairly free room and bored (board?) away from school luckily, and was working. Cannabis seems to make the days less stressfull. But ive seen articles about studies showing cannabis use is not good for developing minds.
I dont think you need highschool. you can go out into the world and see what you want to do and apply to a university or college as a mature student later if you choose to do so.
If you are 18 years old, You can try wwoofing ( world wide opportunities on organic farms). thatd get you free living (you do have to help out on the farms). I imagine most of the organic farm owners lay somewhere on the spectrum, thatd be a chance to network with some perhaps similair minded peoples.
I hope you can take something beneficial from that.
