[ds] Virtual Voc-rehab run by an autistic
I quoted the whole thing since it is already a summary. I did not quote the news paper article
Virtual World Offers New Approach To Tackling Autism
By Shaun Heasley
April 20, 2012 Text Size A A
Socialization is often a struggle for those with autism. Now, one adult on the spectrum is turning to the virtual world in the hopes of helping others like himself learn to cope.
Marcus Morris, 32, spent years facing rejection, going through some 68 jobs in a decade. He finally found refuge in Second Life, an online world where he could socialize with other players without relying on face-to-face interactions.
Now, Morris is looking to offer the same confidence boost to others with autism. He’s launching a nonprofit called Guardian Spirit which will offer adults with autism vocational training and therapy utilizing a unique virtual world that Morris has designed.
Participants in the new program will be able to learn skills ranging from personal hygiene to interviewing for a job via a computer interface under the guidance of therapists, reports the Billings (Mont.) Gazette. To read more click here.
Here is the newspaper article. http://billingsgazette.com/news/local/gu...afba1.html

RE: [ds] Virtual Voc-rehab run by an autistic
He founded a non-profit but he still gets paid. Amazing how some people form non-profits or charitable organizations so that they can get a pay check. The charge is $250 registration and $200/month after that. Sorry. I can't afford it because I don't have a job.
I wonder how anyone could actually managed to get hired for 68 different jobs in 10 years? That he could get hired means that he actually has some social skills or ability to fake it enough.
Imagine if everyone with Aspergers formed their own non-profit organization to help people with autism find work.

Actually, I have received no pay at all. The board I gathered is in the process of trying to steal my idea and force me out. So, please do a little research before you comment. My original concept for my program has been bastardized beyond belief to the point that I am relaunching it.

I totally agree with you about the fee's. I could not get my board to listen when it came to the money. Some of them saw very large dollar signs. All I ever wanted was to reach out and help people.
Yes, I am able to do a great interview. One of my few skills. The problem is maintaining that same level of cover throughout the employment cycle which is a lot harder to do under pressure, under stress.
Did you have any more questions for me? I am happy to answer them!

Have you considered open-source licensing? It won't be worth as much, but you won't lose your rights to a board.
Or at least a board won't monopolize it as easily.

The entire program is based in Secondlife. They have no idea what they are doing, and none of my board has really even been into the virtual setting except for one, whose only comment is "slutty barbies" which shows a complete lack of respect for a big part of our program.
They have removed me from the board because I am a distraction in the board room. The irony is not lost on me that the company started by an autistic, founded by an autistic, and created by an autistic... can't function unless the NORMALS take control and run it their way.

They essentially want me to act as a figure head or siren, luring other autistic's in so they can steal their money. I have no respect at all for any person on that board that was actually OK with removing me. It is my concept, my dream, and my way to help others... and yet they think they can do it better because they are normal.

In common law jurisdictions, slander refers to a malicious, false,[2][not specific enough to verify] and defamatory spoken statement or report, while libel refers to any other form of communication such as written words or images
In other words, If it is true and I can prove that it is true, it would not be slander and would be covered under free speech. I have every single written correspondance ever made with Guardian Spirit. I document everything voraciously and I have nothing at all to lose because I am already nothing. I will protect my company, and my dream from being changed in unintended ways.
If you don't want autistic truth, you might not want to work with autistic's!

" I have never heard anyone on the team who has ever expressed interest or brought up the subject of “stealing” GS or kicking Marcus out. "
In the interest of fairness, Are you saying you had never heard anyone on the board say things just like this:
" He understands all intellectual property is owned by GS including all concepts and etc. This is for the good of Marcus, the Autistic community and possibly other disabilities."
Which is in effect stealing my concept, and claiming it for the group which I would never allow. I still have no idea how in god's name, taking my intellectual property could be in my own best interest.
You never heard comments like this,
Marcus will be working in helping sign and install participants and will not be involved developing the product unless asked to help coordinate with Linden labs (GSPrime).
Comments that effectively remove me from an active role of actually helping guide program development in an arena that NONE of you are familiar with. You are all trying to create a program based on what you know of real life therapy in a virtual environment where only peer therapy applies.
And the nail in the coffin of public opinion:
. I also need clarification as to weather or not I still send the minutes to Marcus. My understanding is that he is still a board member although he does not attend meetings so I don't know if I need to send him the minutes or not.
I may be a special needs person, and I might get confused from time to time but I seriously doubt that even I could miss all of those giant signs saying "you aren't wanted, we want to steal your idea, and we have no room for you as anything more than a figurehead"
I actually have a lot more emails just like this, as well as witnessed verbal conversations. I have never relinquished my intellectual property rights. I have never been willing to sit quietly and watch you guys develop a program around a world you never visit. I was being taken advantage of, and I am fighting back. It's what you would do if you were in my position.
Marcus

Sorry to hear that you are about to be "squeezed out". 240,000 $ p.a. is quite a sum already.
Btw, did you change your username? It's a bit weird to read "all" of your 2 posts, ad then to continue reading "all" of your 6 posts. You might contact a mod about that (report button).

Yes, I actually set up Guardianauttie first, but the email system I had just set up with google was not working yet. I had no idea how complicated that would be to set up! marcus.morris@guardianauttie.com is now working though so I was able to use my original user name.

I just woke up, so I am not as quick as I normally am. 240,000 what?
