.but that brings me to wonder what the government's role is to firm libertarian, and how it differs from anarchism. I never was able to get her answer on that, but admittedly I had that argument years ago, before I knew exactly how to ask the question (I basically just kept yelling "BUT HOW ISN'T THAT ANARCHY??", haha.)

I have been reading a blog called "The Bleeding Heart Libertarian", which has highlighted how little I understand all of the terminology of government and politics.

What I have not stopped believing is that no matter how little we try to minimize the power of government, the power hungry will try to rule as much as they can. The working class will pay the price and the marginalized and disadvantaged will be at the mercy of the outcome.

I feel libertarianism is a pipe dream despite their academic, theoretical arguments. and bleeding heart libertarianism is an oxymoron.

Unions are not a panacea, as power corrupts them as it does anything else, but no one will ever take care of us if we are passive individuals. We can only hold our own in collective bargaining. The US has a huge void in compassion and social justice. I work with families in poverty and the problem is immensely mind boggling. Corporate greed is an enormous issue, and I totally agree that their money holds our senators and representatives hostage. I am socially liberal.

On the other hand, the government is fiscally limited and there is a great deal of waste. We cannot do what we need to do while this issue remains. I think people of a libertarian nature could do some good pruning. I am fiscally conservative. the democrats and republicans are nearly useless.

The bottom line to all of our environmental, social, and whatever issues though is population. There are too many of us for this planet.
