I didn't say a foetus was a separate living entity. I said (third time lucky) that it cannot be considered to be a part of the mother's body. All natural parts of any creature are genetically identical - that is, they have the same genetic code. A foetus has a distinct genetic code from either of its parents. That is a scientific fact. It has nothing to do with politics.

Not really a semantic debate. I only got onto this tack because of the poor science behind the assertion that a foetus is part of the mother. I'm just trying to clarify to people that this is not the case. If you want to pursue an argument in a scientirfic realm (in this case the sciences of obstetrics and genetics), the facts have to be correct, or the argument collapses.
