Hello There, Guest! (Login — Register)
As Niall pointed out recently, there are some negative things said about NTs on this forum. In many cases, I'm sure the people who do it don't realize they're doing it, so I'm not trying to condemn anyone. But, making these statements doesn't make us any better than the people we're complaining about.
Please, when you have anything to say about NTs, pay attention to what you're saying. Think about what we would think if someone were to say that about autistics. If you want to rant about specific occurrences, that's fine, but try not to generalize.
If you see a post in which someone is spreading negative generalizations about NTs, speak up, but do so politely, without condemning the person who said it. I hope that by doing this, we can put an end to these kinds of negative generalizations.
If I offended you, please let me know via pm. I tend to do it without realizing it. I can be clueless as to how my humor comes across. Please be nice about it.
When I am an old woman, I shall wear purple with a red hat that doesn't go, and doesn't suit me.And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves and satin candles, and say we've no money for butter.I shall sit down on the pavement when I am tired and gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells and run my stick along the public railings and make up for the sobriety of my youth.I shall go out in my slippers in the rain and pick the flowers in other people's gardens. And learn to spit...
I saw a thread recently with a title about anooying NT's- I was all ready to say something - like this thread suggests, but then I saw that it was a rant - and the first dozen posts were realistic (in my opinion) and trying to help mellow the anger/frustration of the poster. (It was obvious that the traits being given were traits ANYONE could have)
I did not revisit the thread after that... hope it didn't go badly.
generalizing is generally not going to be too valid - but people do it - we all do it. (Nt or not)
It's okay to talk about people and rant about things people do. But don't rant about Nt's aspies, blacks, Jews, Muslims, etc. if I were to have a conflict with a black person, I am not going to come on here and say "black people are so stupid." Instead it be "Some people are so stupid" and rant about the incident but not say black people this black people that. Same thing about NTs.
If someone posted "Annoying things people do" that would have been okay.

I try never to bash anyone (except humans who oppose alien conquest). My question is, "To what extent should we avoid talking about obvious issues?"
NT is a broad category. It probably does not really exist since it is really defined as being "non-autistic" rather than as a category in its own right. I would never bash someone simply because they are not part of a group. But, are there not legitimate issues about inclusion or the lack thereof that need to be discussed here?

And, if you have time, also my science fiction story about Sasquatch and his struggle to remain free. It combines "monster fiction" with philosophy and questions about how humans came to be:

Oh yes, and there are many threads about this over the years. Feel free to start anew.
LOL - I would say: define alien. For all I know there is an alien in my house (tangent from other thread on "people who belive silly things") Have you visited that thread yet? It was originated by Gareth.
