But so did Patrice and he was never granted a ban.

I wonder how he is? I liked Patrice.

When I am an old woman, I shall wear purple with a red hat that doesn't go, and doesn't suit me.And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves and satin candles, and say we've no money for butter.I shall sit down on the pavement when I am tired and gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells and run my stick along the public railings and make up for the sobriety of my youth.I shall go out in my slippers in the rain and pick the flowers in other people's gardens. And learn to spit...

He was asked to be banned? Can I see evidence for that claim 142857?

RE: Why was OtaBenga banned?

I've always wondered why some members ask for a ban.  It seems to be such a melodramatic way of doing things.  I mean, if I don't like a site, for whatever reason, I just stop visiting it.

Well Patness asked for a ban because he was addicted to this site and would come here all day every day and figured the only thing that could stop him was a ban.

Some things (usually involving the webserver's security and access privileges) can only be granted by the person with "root" access. That would be Gareth. I merely repeated what Amy told me in chat.

Remember that Gareth still owns DNS access and does not like "pointless drama". Neither do I, even in the name of so-called "empiricism". Wink

To put it in a less polite way... Gedrene, you are on a need-to-know basis and you do not need to know. Secrecy is always a gift, not a curse.

Done here...

RE: Why was OtaBenga banned?

If Patrice asked to be banned last year why wasn't he banned too? That doesn't add up.

You like to hide information from people in the name of empiricism. That's absurd.

Secrecy can be sed to tell all sorts of rubbish. If 142857 wants to proclaim why OtaBenga was banned and not provide a reason, only a fool would not question that and only someone with an agenda would then wax lyrical about why secrecy is good.

K.

Why are you making absolutist claims, again?

Only people who wish to make (abusive) ad hominems use absolutist claims.
Oh wait, this discussion is already pointless.

I'm going to report and ask this thread be locked in 3... 2... 1...

Only Otabenga could know the real reason why Otabenga asked to be banned.
