I woke up today in the same body....

Unsettled nights sleep, then a lucid dream....woken by someone knocking on the door. Was a weird feeling looking out my eyes to familiar surroundings, took time to awaken to the real world. It just struck me how I'd 'found my way back'.....it felt strange as my consciousness  filtered into my senses...

What happens when these dreams actually occur? Is there weird side affects?

RE: I woke up today in the same body....

I don't often have lucid dreams- if that's the correct term, I think I just mean in a sense 'real' feeling. But it was the feeling on awakening of going from something big, an expanse, to something small and confined; like looking through a microscope, until consciousness seemed to 'fill me up'. It's a connected part to something vast and this little bit's been channelled into my being, and always finds it's way 'home'....

But with dreams and side effects, sometimes I have had a dream and my ex is in it....or a neighbour....just someone I know, and when I awake it makes me feel partial to them, even though I wouldn't in reality enter into any form of relationship with them. And then when I see them I feel like they know! like they've shared my dream or the emotions in it....we've met on some cosmic plain...Big Grin And so I'm embarrassed if I have to interact with them.

RE: I woke up today in the same body....

Lucid dreaming usually refers to dreams where you are aware of the fact that you are dreaming, and choose to "take control" of the dream.

I don't know if what you are referring to could also be known as a "lucid dream".

I do know the feeling of being in a grand dream... and at the same time being aware of your body lying there like some inanimate slab. Of feeling how limited and trapped your mind is in normal consciousness as you drift back to your own body and wake up.

Those very real and "lucid" dreams sometimes have a kind of hangover effect - where for a few moments you struggle to separate what is real from what is not.

I hate those dreams I have occassionally, usually after a really stressful time, where there is a loud clanging noise in your ears and you feel your body spinning.  Then suddenly you're floating above yourself looking down at your sleeping body.  Those ones always freak me out and I'm glad they don't happen very often.  There's always that slightly panicky feeling that I won't be able to find my way back in again.

Ahh, have used the term in wrong context, cheers. It's just a dream that's so vivid it's real, but I've no real control - just go with it. I can't appear to edit corrections after 5 mins of posting the thread.

It's just how it felt, like I was some liquid being poured into a vessel and the realisation that it's the waking life. There was a sense of detachment and it was like I was an actor preparing for the stage.
I think I must have been in quite a deep sleep when I was disturbed.
