Hello There, Guest! (Login — Register)
I tend to swear a lot, so I posted this poll. It doesn’t matter on emotion if I swear or not But people tend to swear when they’re angry I’ve heard. I swear the most when I’m by myself though. Then again I am 15 [when I'm posting this]
So out of interest I posted this.
p.s- Has anyone done a thread like this before? They probably have but I don't seem to care [unless the person gets pissed off with me, but even then I won't care much either].
I would have also voted on eight but I'd voted on options 1, 2 and 7 already.
I dislike swearing intensely, and particularly when people swear as a "filler" when they are speaking so that all you tend to hear is a long string of profanity in sentences. Language is an amazing tool with more than enough words to be getting along with; I'll never understand those people who always add in tedious references to reproduction and excretion when these are not being actually discussed at the time.
Although the language a person uses is a reasonably accurate indicator of that person's socio-economic status, I've found.

To be ruled by tradition just means that you're letting yourself be outvoted by the dead.

I completely agree with you.
If they take my hand, will it be to burn me or to say amen?
If I offended you, please let me know via pm. I tend to do it without realizing it. I can be clueless as to how my humor comes across. Please be nice about it.
once in a while.. depends how drunk i am. it doesn't really suit the posho/non brummie midlander image people have of me so i prefer to keep it for when it matters.
now i've opened my eyes
i can see your light
when i open my eyes
i see i'm alive

I swear. Swearing is beautiful. Swear words have whole different associations, connotations and meanings which can give a more precise and appropriate expression of what ever it is you're expressing than their 'clean' alternatives. We shouldn't shy away from swearing, we should just be sure to place our swearing carefully, so as to make precise our expression. Most of all we shouldn't demonise swearing or fear it - this only results in the absurd situation we have now where words (which is to say sounds) have actually been banned and made illegal.
