"When Geeks Meet" on nature.com

Here's a new(?) theory about "geeks" and their offspring:
http://www.nature.com/news/2011/111102/f...9025a.html

Read and enjoy (or not)!

Including a mentioning of a new study at http://cambridgepsychology.com/graduatep...efault.asp (not mine, of course).

RE: "When Geeks Meet" on nature.com

I love the picture of the little kid lining up cars according to colour, etc!  When I was a child my mother used to buy me little "Matchbox" cars and I had dozens, which I'd line up carefully, or turn them over to spin the wheels and watch the pretty patterns in fascination.

It's an interesting article, although quite a lot of it isn't exactly new, but things that I've seen discussed before here on AFF.  However, I do object to the "when two geeks meet it's bad news for their offspring" statement. What a sweepingly offensive thing to say!

Anyway, thanks for posting.  It's fun to watch those people not on the spectrum finally catching up with those of us who are.  One day we may get through to them that we're a viable and valuable part of the human species, and the world would be impoverished without our input.

The "bad news" headline disturbed me a bit, too, but I had some difficulties finding that sentence in the text. So much for he quality of the headline-makersRolleyes at nature mag.
