Is It Just Age?

Hello, new here....and I've a lot of reading to do. Am new to the idea that I may be on the Aspi spectrum. Have done quizzes that tell me I'm border line. There's a lot of unfamiliar terminology and reference here. But, as in my intro, I think in my case my behaviour is perhaps more due to my life experience and reactions to situations that I've adopted a more - I think - protected - way of life. (And that experience would include going back to childhood.)
I've been drawn into this issue simply as I prefer my own company; and when folk at work talk about their latest (desperate) relationships they don't quite get that I'm quite comfortable as I am. A chance reference on a news program made me wonder so I've started looking.
I have two rabbits. I ...er... communicate to them in a ..er...'stupid voice'. (It's a habit now). I've made them a (simple) wooden tunnel complex to play in. I think it's cool but on the rabbit forum I'm a member of again folks just don't seem to get it. So, I can see I have an eccentric streak.
Obviously there's more to it than the two examples of who I am above so I'm here out of curiosity ....Aspi spectrum or eccentric aunt?!

and thanks for the greeting Skyblue1 Smile

I think it is sooo smart of you to see you have a lot of reading to do.  It is a fun site, hope you can manage the search engines well- some really good threads are buired in here.

You seem like an interesting person, eccentricities rule. Did you build the rabbit habitat?

Cheers; sort of. They have a shed with a small run attached. I made three tunnels to line the sides of the run that aren't attached to the shed and made a sort of false floor to go on top. This has created a warren of sorts with a hidden chamber and two access points. The false floor lifts for cleaning, it's work but a labour of love...In truth they spend more time in the run/warren than the shed... Big Grin
(Am not a joiner or anything like that - woodwork was a 'boys subject' at school. I've been playing at this since for just a couple of years.)

There's nothing wrong with your eccentric behavior you described.  As a matter of fact, you sound pretty interesting.  I think it's cool about the tunnel maze you made for your rabbits.  Your rabbits are part of your lifestyle as well as the regional NFL team is for most NTs is a given geographic area (in my state, the Patriots but there is a group of Giants fans as well).  You need to socialize with people who appreciate your unique, creative ideas.  I like the idea of rabbit or rodent tunnels with many different angles with colored tubes and joints.  And I also talk to my cat in my "stupid voice".

Cherish your protected life.  I wish I would do that more instead of always feeling that I want to die.

Spending time alone is fine and you love your rabbits.  They love their run and that is amazing you built it for them.

Yes, I think that's really cool. I'd love to have chooks and build a nice hen house for them like my sister in law did for her hens. As far as I know, she's not aspie, but she loves her collection of hen knick-knacks and her 3 pet hens.

Nice one!
I was drawn to buns as no one else wanted to look after my nieces special needs bun when she was at Uni. I developed a variable run system for him, for the first time ever picking up tools to create something. After his demise and subsequent grieving time went on to own my own, building crude but effective contraptions, which is where I am today. Now my nieces bun was called Bilbo, which I found sounded unflattering in the way I said it. It somehow morphed into Ince....which has formed the basis of my ..er..rabbit language.
This voice now tends to spill over into every day life ie-when the buns aren't around; there's no vocabulary as such so even I don't know at times what I'm saying; family frequently tell me off-especially if they're trapped on a car journey lol...'tis a habit....at least the buns know it's me!

(oh dear....soz for going on about my buns....)
