What do you mean by "fundamentals"? Their promotion of dangerous quack remedies such as chelation and ABA? Their endorsement of the fraudulent claims made by Andrew Wakefield regarding a purported link between vaccines and autism? Their complete lack of respect for the basic personal and intellectual rights of the autistic individual?

Do you now support their endorsement of quack remedies, fraudulent researchers and abuse of human rights?

The truth is that Dana Marnane is essentially Autism Speak's head of Marketing and Communication. It would be naive in the extreme to take anything she says at face value.

I wouldn't be surprised if they have a full breakdown of the dollar value of each autistic individual in the promotional material that they send out to their customers in the pharma/biomed industry.

Go and look at one of those lists of exceptional individuals from history who were possibly autistic. Did any of them need the help of Autism Speaks to amplify their talents and enable their abilities? No.

I'm willing to hazard a guess that it's totally different since ADHD and autism are different conditions.

I want a job that lasts more than six months and to be left the hell alone to persue my interests. What I do with my talents is my own business. I don't exist to serve others.

The fact that so many of us reach adulthood with our sanity intact with no external intervention whatsoever is not a compliment to society.

First off, lets clarify something. Chelation is actual medical procedure that is used to detox the body from heavy-metals. Chelation isn't a "quack remedy", however it's application to an autist is based off 'quack science'. Call it semantics, but before you say "Chelation is bullshit" try to double check your facts. Last time I checked, chelation does help folks with heavy metal poisoning.

Also ABA is not a dangerous remedy it's actually base on psychological principles. It can be if applied incorrectly but itself isn't dangerous. Call it biased because I have observe several ABA therapy sessions at my job and the child is always unharmed.

Also state your sources where AutSpks supports Wakefield.

I used to be very against the fundamentals that Autism Speaks seems to have established. I think that autism is one of the most beneficial and enlightening aspects to life. Through tambourine-man's research and determination to reveal the truth, I now have come to the conclusion that Autism Speaks isn't looking to make autism an extinct "disorder". Autism Speaks knows the value in each autistic individual. This organization is wanting to amplify all of these great peoples' talents and enable your abilities by making life a little easier. ADHD kids take adderall to help with hyper-active symptoms... How is that different than treating potentially impairing symptoms of autism? Don't autistics, like ADHD people, want more of a positive recognition in society. Stand up... Make yourselves know as the brilliant compliment to society you all are.  

Your opinion is based on what your brother believes he knows about AutSpks, simple as that. In one post you have shown that your brother is not as unbiased and impartial as he has presented himself.

She has done nothing but love and support me for exactly who I am. She would never want to see me any other way.

I am going to be completely level with you and state that I cannot at this time point to any specific quotations, and I am not going to go looking for them because I have spent so much time reading about Autism Speaks over the last few months that I am now sick of the subject and I am beginning to feel my IQ dropping several points every time I visit their site. However, it's there, somewhere.

Well, instead of taking advantage of an opportunity you are attacking a tongue tied idealistic, 19 year old girl. She didn't intend to be patronizing, I assure you. She knows how much this site means to me.  

However, if your interpretation of her comment is correct, you are doing a very good job of proving her dead right.

We've all been bullied...end the cycle. That isn't what she meant.
