I remember reading a story set during the trenches in 1918, apparently a british soldier had a gun trained on hitler when his unit was taken prison when the war ended.
If only he'd pulled the trigger....
To be fair I doubt that Hitler was/ and will be the only extreme facist leader. If he died in WW1 then I'm sure someone else would have come along. Hell it could have been during the 50's or 60's whilst developing atomic/nuclear bombs, or worse in our life times.

^there would have been some sort of regime, or Russia would've taken them.

I'd imagine so, plus with how hateful some people can be it's unrealistic to assume that killing Hitler would stop extreme facism from ever rising to power.
