RE: Autism Speaks, Our enemy (redux3)

'Do my homework' hmm. Do you mean 'do your homework' or 'instantly agree with our opinion and methods or I'll bite your head off'?

Homework:
I belive either Gareth or Amy have said two things. (I could have interpereted them wrong though)

First, free speech policy. That's self explanitory

Secondly, what I'm saying isn't totally out of whack with what they've said themselves; they wanted the name and the logo of AFF to be something positive, not aggressive despite their advicacy goals

Of course I don't agree with what Autism speaks has done. But how you conduct yourself in the face of adversity says alot about you.

Advicacy shouldn't only be about destruction (eg. tairing down an organistation) but making sure that the group you're advicating for is well supported. Otherwise you just become narrowly focused on just the one thing; destroying someone. What is the community left with if you all you've done is destroy something? Nothing, it will still be underfunded and in dire need of support. All I'm saying is, broaden your horizans.

Anger is something to be had in moderation. The narrow-mindedness excessive anger brings, auctually makes it much more difficult to bring harm to someone, if that's what you feel you need to do. Because you don't think about strategy when you're very angry. That's what leads to people just spamming their forums, and other things that don't work.

I have alot to be angry about, but I've decided not to let it be the driving force of what I do. I'm driven by empathy, and helping the community. If something's in the way of that I'll do what I can to stop it from hindering me, but nothing is ever more going to be important than than helping an underfunded and neglected community.

By the by, I don't give a *** about having stars under my name or bieng in a group who's only goal is to be pissed off and not help the community themselves.

So think about it, what is activisme? Is it about hate? Is it about demanding things and attacking people who disagree with you? Or is it about finding a practical solution to what is a complicated and multideminsional problem?

I think this manefesto is focusing on only one aspect of a large problem and going about it in completly the wronge way.
