Love is a stange word. It's complicated because it means a lot of simple things at the same time.

I'm a 46-year-old twice divorced male. I self-diagnosed at age 39. It was really a clincher; the key to the puzzle as for why my life had been far less than ideal. I now live alone in my condo. I'm trying to salvage my life. At times it can be very hard and frustrating and I'm often moody. But I'm hoping to carve a happier future. You can know more about me by reading my posts.
I hope the remainder of your life turns out to be much happier than what it was.
Welcome from a returning user (me). I began suspecting AS by mid-2010 when reading about some celebrities who showed clear signs of it, made an unofficial test which told me I most probably had AS.
It took me some 2 months -June to August- to send the "introduction" letter of my GP to the regional autism resources centre. I obviously don't "need" any official diagnosis but cannot go on pretending I am a neurotypical (NT) person.
And oh ... I turned 45 in March.
I am 47, and just worked out in the last couple of years that I have Aspergers/Autism. I am not yet formally diagnosed, it must be a great relief to finally know for certain. Congratulations! I say that because I feel that being Autistic can be incredibly difficult, but ultimately it is a gift. We are unique people in a sea of sameness. You know, a lot of people with AS (Aspergers), ARE bipolar also. I too, prefer to stay in my room! I work full time, and I wish I didn't have to, but I am strangely attached to eating and having a roof over my head. I get more than enough social interaction at work, so it is very important to me to have a place where I feel safe and comfortable, that is my room. Welcome to Aspies for Freedom. It is a truly excellent site, and I hope it will really help you to know that other people are going through, or have gone through the same thing as you.
Can I get social security? How long does it take? Should I try one of those help companies you see on tv? I am not working.

I think you should be eligible for something? Social Security, or perhaps even Disability... I don't really know how long it takes. You can apply online, but maybe you should talk to someone with Social Services, or the equivalent where you live.
I am a 48 year old male. All I do is stay in my room. My wife of 10 years has always known that I was different. No friends, no party's etc. Now I don't really care about anything it's like a major life change is no big deal. I just take it like a piece of paper, wad it up and throw it in the trash. Job of 26 years, house, transportation and on and on. I live with in-laws, have major depression, OCD and panic attacks. I also am bipolar,ll. With this new diagnoses I am probably not bi-polar. Any ideas i am just happy staying in my room. I am taking a lot of meds. Any information my life makes sense now. COOLDOG.
It is possible to have asperger's and be bipolar. There are some members here who have both diagnosis. It depends if you are having cyclic episodes of depression or moods and if medication helps that. Some people get depressed due to an event such as a death, job loss, major illness/injury or traumatic event.
With all that, you should try to get disability pension. Talk to your doctor because there are forms that need to be filled out.
Be careful paying any agency money to get your pension or what papers you sign. Some will take over your finances totally.
Hello. I'm male, 49, and was diagnosed only a couple of years ago. Before my diagnosis I basically just sat at home all day; since then though I've had a free travel pass and now go walking in the nearby National Park and write the details in my blog. In truth, getting the pass has probably been the best thing that's happened to me.
