Juvenile Fiction Writer; mom of child on spectrum

This is my first post and the first time I found this sight. I am very excited that others feel the same way as I do. I love my daughter and to be honest I think she is the best kind of person. Often I see in her what I want and need to be.
Three months ago I wrote a book about a group of kids living within a post-apocalyptic city underneath a shroud. Each of them possesses so-called disabilities that their current government is trying to change.  However, the point of my book is to emphasize their extraordinary abilities, in addition to the government’s deception concerning the state of their world.  I had always wanted to be a writer but needed a purpose. My daughter provided that when she said to me one day "Mommy, why are you always trying to change me? Why can't you just accept me the way that I am?"
I'm hoping this book will change the way the world views my daughter as well as others like her.
The book is called The Remnant Through the Shroud. By M. A. Oberg and can be found on my website at maoberg.com; also: amazon.com; and Barnes&Noble.com
Sincerely, Michelle Oberg

I am definitely not spaming. To be honest I am hardly ever on the computer and hate spam when I am on my computer. Hope this does not offend anyone.

Thank you. I am very excited. I didn't know about this site. My daughter is 9 years old and is in her element right now outside playing in the dirt. I look forward to learning more.

LOL - for once having duplicate threads meant I saw (one of) them.

If I didn't know how the forum worked here - I might think that I needed to post under various appropriate headings.

Treatment in society

Parents

General

(which they were) I am guessing that is why they were not deleted. Could actually be an honest mistake.

Welcome,  and I hope you share about more than your fiction.  I was excited when I first found this site. This is quite a good forum. Smile

Welcome to AFF.

I see that I have to purchase the book, for about $15 (paperback). Or about $8 on Kindle.

I looked around for a review, but all I saw was the same "overview" on several different websites, which makes me think that this was the standard, prepared overview released with the book rather than a review as such. Nobody on Amazon has reviewed it in the "customer reviews" section.

Hows about showing us a few excerpts from the book so we can see how good it is? Smile

I hope that you do well with the book - I would love to have the skills to be able to write a book and get it published.

If you go to barnesandnoble.com you can look up my name M. A. Oberg. Then click Nookbook, under Buy Now, click: Get free sample. This will give you the first 3 chapters. If you have any problems let me know. Thank you for your interest. We just started and are trying to learn alot about marketing-not easy. I love this site and look forward to learning more and introducing the site to my daughter as she grows up.

My neighbor plays with dirt, and always likes to go to the pool the whole time, sometimes he wonders around, yet when its cold and winter.... he mainly stays inside the whole time. I guess being on the spectrum like myself has its advantages.... Welcome to AFF.

Thank you,
My daughter has an obsession with nature. She is a true environmentalist. I can't tell you how many times I have washed leaves, dirt, grass and rocks that have stowed away in her pockets! She teaches me to stop and smell the flowers everyday. Smile

Intriguing. I shall have to check this out.

Welcome to AFF. Always nice to hear from another writer, as well.
