I enjoyed the film too, but I thought it could have been improved by adding some flashback scenes. What was Adam's youth like? How was the relationship with his family influenced by his Asperger's Syndrome? What kind of education did he receive, and how well did it succeed? Did he have any major disciplinary issues growing up? There were some gaps in the overall story, if you ask me. With AS, no childhood is uneventful, and there could have been important singular events which profoundly influenced Adam's value system.
Also, do you remember the scene where Adam was "stalking" Beth at her elementary school, and the police were notified because Adam was seen as a potential danger to the children on the playground? That scene ended a bit too quickly and seamlessly to be plausible, in my opinion. If the film were more grounded in reality, the police officers would have thrown Adam in jail for failing to make eye contact or answer their questions well enough, and that's how the movie would've ended. Accusations of pedophilia are hard to shake, even if you're not guilty.
