Frustrated with Facebook?
Has anyone here ever gotten frustrated with Facebook, and related social networking websites like MySpace? Experiences including: People not responding, people behaving ways online (negatively) they would never in person, people suddenly deleting you from friends, blocking, etc.
I know I have! I've deleted my MySpace no less then 5 times before I was finally done with it. Facebook I've been a bit stronger with.

RE: Frustrated with Facebook?
No, but Facebook and MySpace depress me. Oh wait I was blocked on MySpace by a former friend. Months later he apologized through a friend but I will have nothing to do with him anymore. (long story)

I am on Facebook and MySpace under false names; in addition, I only add those I consider friends.

Same. I don't like being easily found. Creeps me out.

RE: Frustrated with Facebook?
I guess I'm lucky. I have almost nothing but positive experiences on FB. I guess because I looked for Aspies/PDD-NOS people who are like me there and found some.
Genocide is defined as "any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial, social, political, economic, intellectual, familial, genetic, or religious group, as such: killing members of the group; causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group; deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part; imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group; [and] forcibly transferring children of the group to another group."

RE: Frustrated with Facebook?
I don't use a false name; I actually want to be found with my true identity (in a positive way, that is), although it seems most don't care to find me. I can see how a site like Facebook can depress. I've been blocked twice, once by an idiot former co-worker and then by my idiot former sister-in-law. What did I do to either one? Nothing.
This is not to say there are not good things and positive moments on sites like Facebook.

RE: Frustrated with Facebook?
I've not had any problems with Facebook. I have been unfriended by someone, but she is bi-polar and goes through phases of unfriending everyone and then wanting to be friends again, so I wasn't bothered by that.

I don't really go on Facebook that much, this past weekend being an exception.

RE: Frustrated with Facebook?
I find it a bit depressing when no one "likes" things I post, but other than that I really like Facebook. It's a great way to stalk people. As far as I know no one's unfriended/blocked me, but instead I have done both to other people, mostly trolls who "like" pages they don't agree with just to harass those who do. The fan pages are half the reason I like Facebook so much.
If they take my hand, will it be to burn me or to say amen?

Being there under false flags has an additional benefit; I can say whatever I goddamned please and not have to worry about an employer looking me up and getting offended.

RE: Frustrated with Facebook?
I haven't used facebook much recently, but when I did I mostly used it to play games and see how friends are doing. I didn't use it to chat much. The thing I found most annoying was that in some of the games I played over time a lot of paid options were added and constant reminders to buy things with real money and requests to publish each action to my wall. So annoying, I just wanted to play.

RE: Frustrated with Facebook?
Yes, there are two sides to me and Facebook, I don't have an account, the two sides, one saying that it is unscsarry the other making me try and get one. It plays out a little bit like this.
Side 1- No, you'll become addicted.
Side 2- You must have it.
Side 1- You don't need it.
Side 2- Everyone's doin it
It almost is like, in cartoons the angle and the devil thing, side two is the devil. Honestly I don't need it and i'll become addicted to it.

RE: Frustrated with Facebook?
I'm having anxiety attacks right now checking my FB account, waiting for a message from my cousin that I sent about a female (see the story about "Wall of Anxiety" in Support if you want to know).
I have situations like this happen from time to time, where I anxiously check that page. Of course, it seems when it happens my computer takes forever to boot up and let me use it, this morning FB made me log in as well! gah!

RE: Frustrated with Facebook?
The only negative experience I've had was when someone once sent me (and about 200 other people) anti-Semitic hate mail through Facebook. However, Facebook quickly deleted the offending content once it was reported, so I don't hold them at fault for it. That being said, I feel that most of what happens on Facebook is a waste of time and I'm almost never on it.
